Bioresource Technology, 2014
This paper proposes a two-part process for producing biocrude with reduced impurities. The biocrude was produced from hydrothermal liquefaction (HTL) of Spirulina sp. and Tetraselmis sp. in a batch reactor at both 300 and 350°C, 5min, and 16%w/w solid feed composition. The resultant biocrudes were vacuum distilled at a maximum temperature of 360°C.

Co-processing of lignocellulosic biocrude with petroleum gas oils [PDF]
[EN] A biocrude was obtained via the catalytic hydrothermal treatment of lignocellulosic biomass. This was further co-hydroprocessed with Straight Run Gas Oil (SRGO) under desulphurization conditions.

Biocrude production in arid lands
Economic Botany, 1983Recent research in the development of bioenergy crops for arid and semiarid regions has stressed the objective of increasing biomass productivity in order to improve energetic and economic returns. However, an examination of the constraints on arid-adapted plant species indicates that a preferable approach to biocrude feedstock development is one that ...

Catalytic upgrading of duckweed biocrude in subcritical water
Bioresource Technology, 2014Herein, a duckweed biocrude produced from the hydrothermal liquefaction of Lemna minor was treated in subcritical water with added H₂. Effects of several different commercially available materials such as Ru/C, Pd/C, Pt/C, Pt/γ-Al₂O₃, Pt/C-sulfide, Rh/γ-Al₂O₃, activated carbon, MoS₂, Mo₂C, Co-Mo/γ-Al₂O₃, and zeolite on the yields of product fractions ...

Hydrothermal liquefaction of paddy straw for biocrude production
Materials Today: Proceedings, 2021Abstract As per the MNRE statistics, the current annual availability of biomass in India is estimated to be 500 million metric tons. Most of the biomass were just dumped, burnt or reused very little. This unexploited potential of biowastes can be converted to an energy rich fuel through hydrothermal processing.
