RTP™ Biocrude: A Combustion / Emissions Review

1997
The thermochemical conversion of solid biomass wastes to liquid fuels via fast pyrolysis is now firmly established with a number of research, pilot plant and commercial systems producing sufficient quantities for applied combustion tests. Biocrudes produced with Ensyn’s RTP™ technology have undergone characterization and combustion tests in flame ...

Liquid Fuels by Low-Severity Hydrotreating of Biocrude

1997
Bio crude (fast pyrolysis oil from wood) was hydrotreated to minimize the negative aspects of this fuel. The instability of the oil was reduced by reaction of the most unstable functional groups. Concurrently, the oxygenated component of the oil was also reduced, resulting in an improved energy density.

Technoeconomic analysis of the production of biocrude from wood

Biomass and Bioenergy, 1994
Abstract The production of biomass-derived oil (biocrude) has been studied to determine the technoeconomic characteristics of the process. A detailed process model was developed for the production of biocrude from wood chips. The process consists of a silo dryer for the removal of water from the feed wood, a vortex reactor for the pyrolysis of the ...

Waste Sludge: Entirely Waste or a Sustainable Source of Biocrude? A Review

Applied Biochemistry and Biotechnology
Biomass-derived biocrude is gaining greater recognition from people in general as an alternative fuel source to traditional fossil fuels. Worldwide, a great deal of research is being done to develop fuels made from sustainable biomass in order to replace the current conventional energy sources.

Hydrothermal co-liquefaction of microalgae, sugarcane bagasse, brewer's spent grain, and sludge from a paper recycling mill: Modeling and evaluation of biocrude and biochar yield.

Journal of Environmental Management
Biomass can be used as an energy source to thermochemical conversion processes to biocrude production. However, the supply and dependence on only one biomass for biocrude production can be an obstacle due to its seasonality, availability, and logistics ...
