Isolation and identification of a TetR family protein that regulates the biodesulfurization operon [PDF]
Biodesulfurization helps in removal of sulfur from organosulfur present in petroleum fractions. All microorganisms isolated to date harbor a desulfurization operon consisting of three genes dszA, -B and -C which encode for monooxygenases (DszA & C) and ...

Mitigating product inhibition in 2'-hydroxybiphenyl-2-sulfinate desulfinase (DszB) with synthetic glycosylation. [PDF]
Abstract The combustion of sulfur‐rich crude oil is toxic to the environment, making the removal of sulfur impurities a priority for the sustainable use of liquid fuels. Biodesulfurization via the 4S pathway is a promising approach due to its C‐S bond cleavage specificity and mild operating conditions.

Elevated c-di-GMP levels promote biofilm formation and biodesulfurization capacity of Rhodococcus erythropolis. [PDF]
In this work, we addressed the major hurdle of developing novel Rhodococcus erythropolis biocatalysts with improved biodesulfurization ability. To do so, we promoted Rhodococcus capability of forming a biofilm through the heterologous expression of a diguanylate cyclase that led to the synthesis of the biofilm trigger molecule cyclic‐di‐GMP (c‐di‐GMP).

Graphical Abstract An optimized culture medium, namely Medium C, significantly enhanced the biodesulfurization activity and biomass concentration of Rhodococcus qingshengii IGTS8, without modification of the natural biocatalyst. The supplementation of ethanol as a carbon source, combined with a unique selection of salt, metal, and vitamin solutions ...

Summary A new operon for biodesulfurization (BDS) of dibenzothiophene and derivatives has been isolated from a metagenomic library made from oil‐contaminated soil, by selecting growth of E. coli on DBT as the sulfur source. This operon is similar to a dszEABC operon also isolated by metagenomic functional screening but exhibited substantial differences:
