Crop-Based Biofuel Production under Acreage Constraints and Uncertainty [PDF]

open access: yes
A myriad of policy issues and questions revolve around understanding the bioeconomy. To gain insight, we develop a stochastic and dynamic general equilibrium model and capture the uncertain nature of key variables such as crude oil prices and commodity ...

Lecanicillium aphanocladii: a biocontrol agent against insect pests and phytopathogens

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
Recent research findings on the biocontrol potential of Lecanicillium aphanocladii fungus against insect‐pests and plant diseases were highlighted. This review indicates that several L. aphanocladii strains show great potential to be developed as multipurpose biocontrol agents active against several insect‐pests, plant diseases and plant parasitic ...

Steaming soil is effective in eliminating invasive alien plants (IAPs) – part I: effect of exposure method

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 81, Issue 4, Page 2032-2039, April 2025.
As regulations on chemical pesticides become more stringent, it is likely that there will be interest in water steam as an alternative approach for soil disinfestation. This study investigated the feasibility of utilizing a soil steaming device for thermal control of selected invasive alien plants and showed a promising mortality rate for their ...

Electronic Modulation of CoNi Nanoparticles by N‐Doped Carbon for Efficient Lignin Hydrogenolysis to Aromatic Monomers

open access: yesRare Metals, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Cost‐effective and efficient non‐noble‐metal catalysts for selective lignin hydrogenolysis remain elusive, representing a significant challenge in biorefinery. Here, we prepared a nitrogen‐doped carbon supported CoNi bimetallic catalyst, which was successfully derived from zeolitic imidazolate framework (ZIF) via high‐temperature pyrolysis ...

Real‐Time Behavior Recognition Using a Legged Robot for Animal–Robot Interaction

open access: yesJournal of Field Robotics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Animal–robot interaction is an emerging interdisciplinary field that explores the dynamics between animals and robotic systems, as well as the design principles for effective engagement. While previous approaches have investigated animal responses to robotic stimuli, they have yet to integrate artificial intelligence (AI) for real‐time ...

Characterizing bioeconomy policy instruments: A global comparative analysis of bioeconomy strategies

open access: yesJournal of Environmental Policy & Planning
Over the past two decades, the concept of the bioeconomy has gained significant traction in policy making and research. While the visions and goals of bioeconomy policy strategies are well-researched, the policy instruments used to promote them have received little attention. Addressing this research gap, this paper presents a comprehensive analysis of

Wall‐to‐wall Amazon forest height mapping with Planet NICFI, Aerial LiDAR, and a U‐Net regression model

open access: yesRemote Sensing in Ecology and Conservation, EarlyView.
Tree canopy height is a key indicator of forest biomass and structure, yet accurate mapping across the Amazon remains challenging. Here, we generated a canopy height map of the Amazon forest at ~4.8 m resolution using Planet NICFI imagery and a deep learning U‐Net model trained with airborne LiDAR data.

Evaluation of the Gulf sampling method : Report conducted in the VELMU Inventory Programme for the Underwater Marine Environment [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Along the Finnish coast, the Gulf Olympia paired ichthyoplankton samplers have been widely used for collecting early life stages of pelagic fish, e.g. within the Finnish Inventory Programme for Marine Underwater Environment (VELMU), aiming to localize ...
