Cognitive Symbionts. Expanding the Scope of Cognitive Science With Fungi

open access: yesTopics in Cognitive Science, EarlyView.
Abstract It has been argued that fungi have cognitive capacities, and even conscious experiences. While these arguments risk ushering in unproductive disputes about how words like “mind,” “cognitive,” “sentient,” and “conscious” should be used, paying close attention to key properties of fungal life can also be uncontroversially productive for ...

Impaired nitric oxide‐dependent endothelial function in young male individuals with obesity before the onset of symptoms and complications

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract Endothelial dysfunction drives obesity‐related complications. Doppler ultrasound measurement of blood flow during 1‐min passive leg movements (PLM) is a valuable non‐invasive tool for assessing endothelial function and nitric oxide (NO)‐mediated vasodilation.

Reproducibility and agreement of pulse wave velocity and augmentation index over repeated assessments using two different devices in adolescents

open access: yesClinical Physiology and Functional Imaging, Volume 46, Issue 2, March 2026.
Abstract Objectives We investigated the agreement between pulse wave velocity (PWV) and augmentation index (AIx%) obtained in a controlled fasted condition versus a non‐fasted, uncontrolled, “real‐world” condition. Thereafter, we assessed the reproducibility of PWV and AIx% over three repeated visits under controlled fasted conditions.

Evaluation of Prevalence and Risk Factors of Possible Sarcopenia Based on SARC‐F in Adults Over 60 in Tegucigalpa, Honduras: A Cross‐Sectional Study

open access: yesHealth Science Reports, Volume 9, Issue 2, February 2026.
Abstract Background and Aims Sarcopenia, a progressive loss of skeletal muscle mass and function, poses a growing public health challenge in low and middle‐income settings. We aimed to quantify its prevalence and identify sex‐specific risk factors among older adults attending a public outpatient clinic in Tegucigalpa, Honduras.
