De-anthropomorphizing the mind: life as a cognitive spectrum in a unified framework for biological minds [PDF]

open access: yesFrontiers in Systems Neuroscience
Cognition, sentience, intelligence, awareness, and mind are often treated as distinct phenomena that emerge only at higher levels of biological organization, typically associated with nervous systems or human cognition.

Effect of dinitrophenol on phosphorylation and bioelectric phenomena of excitable tissues

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Physiology-Legacy Content, 1961
The effect of 2, 4-dinitrophenol (DNP) was investigated on the phosphorylation of frog sartorius muscle and ventral nerve roots, using P32 as a tracer. It was possible almost completely to inhibit phosphorylation without significantly altering excitability, although the resting potential and intracellular potassium decreased over 30%.

Self-assembly of generative heterogeneous electric circuits [PDF]

open access: yesScientific Reports
An abstract model of electric circuit self-assembly that is amenable to exact analysis has been proposed in previous works in the circuit tile assembly model (cTAM) to understand self-assembled and self-controlled growth as emergent phenomena that are ...

A novel method for noninvasive bioelectric measurement utilizing conductivity of seawater

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2021
A novel method of noninvasive bioelectric measurement that utilizes the conductivity of seawater covering a person’s whole body is proposed. Concretely, a conductor used as a common electrode is sunk into the seawater, and four special bioelectrodes ...

A Multi-Donor Ex Vivo Platelet Activation and Growth Factor Release Study Using Electric Pulses With Durations Up to 100 Microseconds

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2021
In vitro platelet activation is established in various clinical settings for wound healing and tissue regeneration. After separating platelet rich plasma (PRP) from whole blood, a biochemical activator, typically bovine thrombin (BT), is applied to ...
