Bioelectric Phenomena in Dental Decay

Journal of Dental Research, 1969
A new theory is presented on possible inclusion of electric forces in dental decay. The dental plaque acting as a fuel cell produces a definite measurable EMF of 15 to 500 mv. Voltages are considerably increased by carbohydrate and are the result of bacterial activity.

Bioelectric Phenomena in the Ototoxicity of Nitrogen Mustard

Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery, 1978
The effects of nitrogen mustard on the electrical potentials of the inner ear were studied, and the results were correlated with the histopathologic findings which have been reported in nitrogen mustard ototoxicity. The endocochlear DC potential (EP) decreased rapidly after an injection of nitrogen mustard (NM).

Interrelationships Between Phosphates and Calcium in Bioelectric Phenomena

International review of neurobiology, 1966
Publisher Summary This chapter describes the methodological approach, thermodynamic considerations of P efflux, depolarization and phosphorylation, relationship of P efflux to P transfer and incorporation into adenosine triphosphate (ATP), quantitative comparison of K + entry and P efflux, and possible mechanism of orthophosphate (P i ) transport ...

The isolated everted vagina — A preparation for studying vaginal bioelectric phenomena

Life Sciences, 1967
Abstract 1. An in vitro preparation of the isolated everted vagina is described that allows measurements of the electrical activity across the organ. 2. The changes of the transvaginal P.D. that occur during the oestrous cycle in vivo also occur in the isolated, everted organ in vitro . 3. The transvaginal P.D.

Numerical approximations on the transient analysis of bioelectric phenomena at long time scales via the Mittag-Leffler function

, 2021
This paper discusses the complexity of distributed relaxation processes in biological systems, particularly with regard to the slowest timescale phenomena that influence the modeling of physiological events.
