Biofilms in the Food Industry: Health Aspects and Control Methods
Diverse microorganisms are able to grow on food matrixes and along food industry infrastructures. This growth may give rise to biofilms. This review summarizes, on the one hand, the current knowledge regarding the main bacterial species responsible for ...

Biofilm Control by Active Topography with Mucin Coating
This study reports a new antifouling strategy based on a bioinspired design. Mucin coating enhances biofilm control by active topography with beating micron‐sized pillars. Besides the mechanical force of beating pillars, the antibiofilm activities also involve biological factors since mucin coating inhibits swarming motility and c‐di‐GMP synthesis in ...

Impact of Rap-Phr system abundance on adaptation of Bacillus subtilis
Ramses Gallegos-Monterrosa, Mathilde Nordgaard Christensen, and colleagues investigate how a single or double deletion of the rap-phr genes, parts of peptide-based quorum sensing systems, impacts the sporulation and biofilm formation of B. subtilis under

Candida Biofilms: Threats, Challenges, and Promising Strategies
Candida species are fungal pathogens known for their ability to cause superficial and systemic infections in the human host. These pathogens are able to persist inside the host due to the development of pathogenicity and multidrug resistance traits ...

Designing of Self‐Dispersing Soft Dendritic Microcleaners for Microplastics Capture and Recovery
The capture and recovery of microplastics from open aquatic systems is a complex problem, which necessitates nontrivial solutions. The principles of a comprehensive multistage process based on sustainably sourced microcleaners with hierarchical morphology are demonstrated.

A multifunctional hydroxyapatite (HAp) coating integrated with silver‐gallium liquid metal nanoparticles (HAp‐Ag‐GaNPs) exhibits dual antibacterial and osteogenic properties. It effectively inhibits Gram‐positive and Gram‐negative bacteria, including resistant strains, while enhancing bone regeneration.
