Cassette biofilter aerodynamics

Chemical and Petroleum Engineering, 2012
The hydraulic resistance of packing is studied, intended for use in cassette biofilters. The proposed packing of lavsan monofibers 1 mm thick has minimal hydraulic resistance compared with other known forms of packing used in practice. Values of hydraulic resistance coefficient ζ are obtained for dry packing.

Performance of a biofilter with compost and activated carbon based packing material for gas-phase toluene removal under extremely high loading rates.

Bioresource Technology, 2019
The main aim of this work was to evaluate the performance of a biofilter packed with a mixture of compost and activated carbon, for gas-phase toluene removal under very high loading rates.

How does iron facilitate the aerated biofilter for tertiary simultaneous nutrient and refractory organics removal from real dyeing wastewater?

Water Research, 2019
Textile dyeing wastewater is characterized by low biodegradability and high nitrogen strength, which is difficult to meet the increasingly stringent discharge requirements.

Single molecule sequencing reveals response of manganese-oxidizing microbiome to different biofilter media in drinking water systems.

Water Research, 2019
Rapid sand biofiltration (RSBF) is widely used for the removal of contaminants from drinking water treatment systems. Biofilm microbiomes in the biofilter media play essential roles in biotransformation of contaminants, but is not comprehensively ...

H2S removal from sour water in a combination system of trickling biofilter and biofilter

Environmental Research, 2020
Desulfurization of sour water was investigated in a combination system of trickling biofilter (BTF) and biofilter (BF) filled with ceramic packing materials. A critical elimination capacity (EC) of 251.93 g S m-3 h-1 was obtained for the BTF/BF system during a stepwise increase of sulfide concentration from 10 to 60 g S m-3.

A pilot-scale study on start-up and stable operation of mainstream partial nitrification-anammox biofilter process based on online pH-DO linkage control

Chemical Engineering Journal, 2018
A pilot-scale study on start-up and stable operation of mainstream partial nitrification-anammox biofilter (PN/AF) system was conducted. The partial nitrification system was controlled based on online pH-dissolved oxygen (DO) linkage control strategy for

Enhanced biodegradation of n-hexane from the air stream using rhamnolipid in a biofilter packed with a mixture of compost, scoria, sugar beet pulp and poplar tree skin

Atmospheric pollution research, 2019
Biofiltration of n-hexane vapors with and without using rhamnolipid biosurfactant was investigated on a laboratory scale biofilter packed with compost, scoria, sugar beet pulp, and poplar tree skin at empty bed residence times (EBRT) of 30, 60 and 120s ...

Online removal of volatile siloxanes in solid-state anaerobic digester biogas using a biofilter and an activated carbon filter

Journal of Environmental Chemical Engineering, 2019
This study tested the feasibility of using a low-cost biofilter and an activated carbon filter to remove siloxanes from solid-state anaerobic digesters that had unsteady biogas production. The digesters were dosed with three commonly found siloxanes, D3 (

Achieving partial denitrification through control of biofilm structure during biofilm growth in denitrifying biofilter.

Bioresource Technology, 2017
Partial denitrification was one of most effective ways to provide nitrite for annamox; whereas very limited research has been done to achieve nitrite accumulation in biofilm system.

Axial dispersion in biofilters

Biochemical Engineering Journal, 1998
Abstract Biological destruction of toluene vapor from air streams was studied in a laboratory scale biofilter. The packing material (peat) used in the reactor was immobilized with acclimatized bacterial suspension. The original microbial consortium was obtained as an activated sludge suspension from a local waste water treatment plant.
