Assessment of the Effects of Flow Rate and Ionic Strength on the Performance of an Air-Cathode Microbial Fuel Cell Using Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy

open access: yesEnergies, 2010
Impedance changes of the anode, cathode and solution were examined for an air-cathode microbial fuel cell (MFC) under varying conditions. An MFC inoculated with a pre-enriched microbial culture resulted in a startup time of less than ten days.

Sustainable Palm Oil Extraction and Trends in the Use of Green Technologies: State‐of‐the‐Art and Future Directions

open access: yesJournal of the American Oil Chemists' Society, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Palm oil, which is extracted from the mesocarp of the fruit of the Elaeis guineensis Jacq. palm tree, is the most widely produced vegetable oil in the world. The extraction of this substance typically utilizes the conventional pressing method, a technique that is advantageous due to its low operating cost and simplified process.

Green Fuel Combustion Synthesis of CeO2 and Ag/CeO2 Nanoparticles for Photocatalytic and Antibacterial Applications

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Silver‐doped cerium oxide nanoparticles (Ag/CeO2 NPs) were synthesized using Ricinus communis seed extract as a bio‐derived fuel in a solution combustion method. The combustion reaction, carried out at 450°C with AgNO3 and (NH4)2[Ce (NO3)6] as metal precursors, produced CeO2 and Ag/CeO2 NPs.

Tissue‐Specific and Spatially Dependent Metabolic Signatures Perturbed by Injury in Male and Female Mice

open access: yesArthritis &Rheumatology, EarlyView.
Objective Osteoarthritis, the leading cause of disability worldwide, disproportionately affects women, yet sex remains an overlooked determinant. This disparity stems from sex‐specific differences in injury susceptibility—a major risk factor for disease.
