Sprayable Polyolefin Sorbents Enabled by Bio‐Solvents for Large‐Scale Oil and Chemical Spill Recovery

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
A sprayable POE‐based sorbent formulated with a green solvent blend of α‐pinene, D‐limonene, and p‐cymene enables rapid in situ film formation via solvent evaporation, allowing efficient pollutant capture. The system exhibits high oil uptake (37.3 g g−1) and effectively removes up to 60 mL of VLSFO under simulated marine spill conditions.

Drilling the Marathousa palaeo‐lake in Greece (Peloponnese): inferring the environmental context of a Middle Pleistocene archaeological site

open access: yesBoreas, EarlyView.
The Megalopolis Basin is located in the central Peloponnese (Greece), a region that is situated along one of the primary Pleistocene biogeographical corridors for intracontinental hominin migration. The basin comprises several hundred metres of Plio‐Pleistocene sediments alternating between clastics and lignites.

Neoichnology of vertebrate traces along the western barrier coast of Ukraine: preservation potential and subsurface visualization

open access: yesGeo&Bio, 2023
A diverse quite of vertebrate traces covers beach, aeolian, and bay-side (deflation flats) surfaces along the NW Black Sea coast of Ukraine. These include avian, ungulate, and canid footprints, as well as mammal burrows (length >5 cm; depth ~2 cm).

Late Carboniferous Paleomagnetism From North Qiangtang Block Reveals a Multibranched Paleo‐Tethys Ocean

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 11, 16 June 2026.
Abstract The North Qiangtang Block occupies a pivotal position within the eastern Tethyan realm, and its paleogeographic reconstruction is critical for constraining Tethyan geometry and evolution. However, its Late Paleozoic paleogeography and Paleo‐Tethyan Ocean–continent configuration remain controversial due to limited reliable age‐constrained ...

Synthesis and properties of biogenic magnetite synthetic analogues

open access: yesVisnyk of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. Geology, 2014
This paper deals with different factors (ultrasonication, magnetic field) in determining the properties of synthesized magnetite nanoparticles. Development of technologies for creating synthetic analogues of magnetic minerals localized in human and other living organism tissues is of great importance in solving a wide range of mineralogical, medical ...

Nanoscale Ordering of Magnetosomes Under the Influence of a Magnetic Field Investigated by Small‐Angle X‐Ray Scattering

open access: yesSmall Structures, Volume 7, Issue 6, June 2026.
Recently, the synthetic Rhodospirillum rubrum ‘magneticum’ has been shown to enable the light‐driven production of magnetosomes (MAGs) in high yields. These membrane‐enveloped magnetic nanoparticles represent promising alternatives to their chemically synthesized analogs for many applications in the biotechnological and biomedical field.

Magnetosome-specific expression of chimeric proteins in Magnetospirillum gryphiswaldense for applications in cell biology and biotechnology [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Magnetosomes are magnetic nanoparticles that are formed by magnetotactic bacteria (MTB) by a complex, genetically controlled biomineralization process.

Avian magnetoreception: elaborate iron mineral containing dendrites in the upper beak seem to be a common feature of birds

open access: yes, 2010
The magnetic field sensors enabling birds to extract orientational information from the Earth’s magnetic field have remained enigmatic. Our previously published results from homing pigeons have made us suggest that the iron containing sensory dendrites ...

Different Routes for Camellia Sinensis–Mediated Synthesis of Iron Oxide Nanoparticles: Structural, Thermal, and Magnetic Properties

open access: yesChemistrySelect, Volume 11, Issue 19, 20 May 2026.
Different green‐assisted routes (After Synthesis—ASR; Green Subsequent—SSR; Green in situ—ISSR) using Camellia sinensis to produce functionalized iron‐based oxide nanoparticles with controlled and distinct structural and magnetic properties. ABSTRACT Green‐assisted iron oxide nanoparticles (NPs) were synthesized using Camellia sinensis extract (green ...
