Use of Essential Oils as Bioherbicides

Journal of Essential Oil Bearing Plants, 2008
A study was conducted to assess the allelopathic effects of essential oils from Eucalypt, Lawson Cypress, Rosemary and White cedar with the objective of exploring the possibility of their utilization for future weed management. The effects of these four essential oils on the germination of three weed species were examined.

Enhancing the Efficacy of Bioherbicides

2003
Plant pathogenic pseudomonads are inhibited by certain amino acids due to feedback inhibition or repression of key biosynthetic enzymes in amino acid biosynthesis pathways. As it turns out, plants are similarly inhibited by certain amino acids. These inhibitions can play a large role in plant pathology.

Bioherbicides: Their Role in Tomorrow’s Agriculture

1992
The current status of bioherbicide development is briefly reviewed and factors constraining development are considered. The problems of strain selection, inoculum production, bioherbicide formulation, pesticide interactions and genetic manipulation and variability are addressed and indications given of the progress towards resolving some of the ...

ALLELOCHEMICALS OF COVER CROPS – POTENTIAL BIOHERBICIDE

Development of a nanoemulsion bioherbicide and its herbicidal efficacy

Pest Management Science
AbstractBACKGROUNDBioherbicide applications are environmental‐friendly approaches to control weeds toward sustainable agriculture. Hence, the current research focused on developing a ready‐to‐use nanoemulsion bioherbicide from the current less economical WeedLock bioherbicide, furthermore evaluating its weed control efficacy.

Chemical Interactions with Bioherbicides to Improve Efficacy

Weed Technology, 1996
Bioherbicides can be defined as plant pathogens, phytotoxins derived from pathogens or other microorganisms, augmentatively applied to control weeds. Although many pathogens with bioherbicidal potential have been discovered, most lack sufficient aggressiveness to overcome weed defenses to achieve adequate control.
