Modeling and Analysis of Bioimpedance Measurements
2014In this work we presented the technology for high-resolution efficient numerical modeling of bioimpedance measurements. This technology includes 3D image segmentation, adaptive unstructured tetrahedral mesh generation, finite-element discretization, and the analysis of simulation data.

Aim Low muscle mass (LMM) is a prerequisite to define sarcopenia. We aimed to report muscle-mass reference cut-off points adjusted for height and weight as muscle-mass threshold best discriminating muscle-weakness and adjusted for body mass index (BMI ...

Physiological Measurement, 2008
This paper presents a method for extrapolating the total body water (TBW) resistance R(t50) from the resistance measured at 50 kHz (R(50)). A DXA examination and impedance measurements were carried out in a 1st group of 57 healthy volunteers with a Xitron 4200 multifrequency impedancemeter, in order to determine their values of R(t50) by comparison ...

Bioimpedance analysis: Should it be used in morbid obesity?
American Journal of Human Biology, 2011AbstractObjectives:Questions about reliability of bioimpedance analysis (BIA) in morbidly obese subjects have curtailed its use in this setting, but metabolic implications might reignite the debate. In a prospective study, it was aimed to analyze anthropometric and clinical associations. Methods:Bariatric candidates (n = 94) with or without metabolic ...

Role of Bioimpedance Vectorial Analysis in Cardio-Renal Syndromes
Seminars in Nephrology, 2012The cardio-renal syndromes (CRS) are the result of complex bidirectional organ cross-talk between the heart and kidney, with tremendous overlap of diseases such as coronary heart disease, heart failure (HF), and renal dysfunction in the same patient. Volume overload plays an important role in the pathophysiology of CRS.
