Design and analysis strategies for robust microbiome ageing research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The gut microbiome changes with age and associates with age‐related morbidity and mortality, establishing it as a potential biomarker and intervention target for ageing. Realising this potential requires methodological rigour, yet distinguishing biological signals from methodological artefacts remains challenging across cohorts. This review provides an

ABL kinase‐dependent phosphorylation of SH proteins promotes their direct interaction with CRK family SH2 domains

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
CT10 regulator of kinase (CRK) and CRK‐Like (CRKL) are signaling adaptors driving cell adhesion, motility, differentiation, and proliferation. SH2‐domain containing (SH) proteins are enriched in YXXP motifs which when phosphorylated create preferred binding sites for CRK family SH2 domains.

Upregulation of sperm-associated antigen 5 expression in endometrial carcinoma was associated with poor prognosis and immune dysregulation, and promoted cell migration and invasion

open access: yesScientific Reports
Sperm-associated antigen 5 (SPAG5) regulates cancer cell invasion and is involved in the progression of many cancers. However, the role of SPAG5 in endometrial carcinoma (EC) is still unknown. The purpose of this study was to explore the role of SPAG5 in

Virtual Prediction of The Effect Phenolic And Glucosinolate Compounds In Broccoli (Brassica Oleracea) On Anti-aging As Stimulant Nrf-2

open access: yesJournal of Experimental Life Science, 2020
Aging is caused by an imbalance between antioxidants and ROS. Nuclear Factor Erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf2) is a transcription factor that regulates antioxidant genes. Under normal conditions, Nrf2 will bind keap1 and cause degradation of Nrf2. Nrf2

The Roots of Bioinformatics

open access: yesPLoS Computational Biology, 2010
Every new scientific discipline or methodology reaches a point in its maturation where it is fruitful for it to turn its gaze inward, as well as backward. Such introspection helps to clarify the essential structure of a field of study, facilitating communication, pedagogy, standardization, and the like, while retrospection aids this process by ...

The role of miR‐335‐5p in the redifferentiation of BRAF p.V600E thyroid cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The BRAF p.V600E mutation promotes thyroid cancer dedifferentiation and radioiodine resistance. Using a network approach, we identified miR‐335‐5p as a key regulator of BRAF‐mutated thyroid tumors. Restoring miR‐335‐5p increased thyroid‐specific gene expression and iodine uptake in cells and organoids.

Introduction to Bioinformatics

open access: yes, 2019
How the scientific community looks at molecular biology today is very different from that 50 years ago. During this time technological developments have led to many significant findings that have shook one of the most important foundations of molecular biology: the central dogma.
