Hydrostatic and Anisotropic Pressure Responses in Tetragonal Zirconia Nanoparticles
Tetragonal zirconia nanoparticles exhibit remarkable sensitivity to a nonhydrostatic pressure component while remaining largely unaffected by hydrostatic pressure. Their tetragonal‐to‐monoclinic phase transition enables the detection of nonhydrostatic pressure components in the MPa range, providing a new strategy for evaluating nonhydrostatic pressure ...

Bioinorganic chemistry and drug design: here comes zinc again [PDF]
The structures and reactions of metal ions in proteins are of tremendous interest in bioinorganic chemistry, as is the potential for metals in creating novel medicines. New results combine these aspects in describing an unexpected mode for metal-mediated

The rare earth (RE) aqua complexes using 3‐hydroxyphenylacetate ligand were prepared using the corresponding RE salt and the sodium salt of the ligand by a salt metathesis reaction. Two different structural motifs of the complexes, {[La(3hpa)3(H2O)] × 2H2O}n, and [RE(3hpa)3(H2O)]n (RE = Ce (2), Nd (3), Gd (4), Dy (5), Y (6), Er (7), Yb (8)) were ...

1,3‐Bis(tetrylene)s: Emerging Platforms for Functional Main‐Group Molecules
Bridge design governs the stability and reactivity of 1,3‐bis(tetrylene)s. This review surveys pnictogen‐, chalcogen‐, and tetrel‐bridged systems and shows how geometric preorganization and electronic communication can enable cooperative bond activation and access to unusual heavy‐element π frameworks. Main‐group chemistry has undergone a resurgence as

Ligand Redox Noninnocence in Bis(phosphinimine) Diarylamido Pincer Complexes of Nickel
The oxidative noninnocence of a bis(phosphinimine) ligand featuring a diarylamido backbone was investigated for several nickel complexes. Radical/charge delocalization across the aromatic backbone plays an important role in the stabilization of the diarylaminyl and putative diarylnitrenium complexes.
