Applications and Sexual Version of a Simple Model for Biological Ageing
We use a simple model for biological ageing to study the mortality of the population, obtaining a good agreement with the Gompertz law. We also simulate the same model on a square lattice, considering different strategies of parental care.

Quasilinear and singular elliptic systems
In this paper, we investigate a general quasilinear elliptic and singular system. By monotonicity methods, we give some existence and uniqueness results.

Mining frequent biological sequences based on bitmap without candidate sequence generation [PDF]
Biological sequences carry a lot of important genetic information of organisms. Furthermore, there is an inheritance law related to protein function and structure which is useful for applications such as disease prediction.

ABSTRACT Introduction Pre‐dilution online hemodiafiltration (Pre‐HDF) is predominantly used in Japan, whereas post‐dilution online HDF (Post‐HDF) is more common in Europe. An asymmetric cellulose triacetate (ATA) membrane may improve biocompatibility.

Morphotype induced changes in the life history and population dynamics of an hippolytid shrimp
One of the most exceptional, loud paradigm of shape polymorphisms constitutes the “rostral loss” condition in hippolytid shrimps. The intertidal shrimp Hippolyte sapphica includes two conspecific morphotypes, one of which demonstrates a neotenic rostrum (

Asymptotic behaviour of random tridiagonal Markov chains in biological applications
Discrete-time discrete-state random Markov chains with a tridiagonal generator are shown to have a random attractor consisting of singleton subsets, essentially a random path, in the simplex of probability vectors.

Biodegradable Luminescent Silicon Quantum Dots for Two Photon Imaging Applications [PDF]
Cadmium- and lead-based quantum dots are normally coated for biological applications, because their degradation may result in the release of toxic heavy metal ions.
