On biological availability dependent bone remodeling
Computer Methods in Biomechanics and Biomedical Engineering, 2020Modeling the evolution of bone density is relevant for understanding, simulation and possible prediction of bone response to external and internal influences. In this work we present a formulation for the bone density evolution process that takes into account not only the commonly considered mechanical stimulus, but, as novelty, also the influence of ...

VARIATION IN THE BIOLOGICAL AVAILABILITY OF DIGOXIN
The Lancet, 1972Abstract Plasma-digoxin levels were measured in 76 outpatients. At the higher dose-levels significant differences were found between the digoxin levels of patients using 'Lanoxin' tablets* and those using other brands. Maintenance plasma-levels and absorption curves of digoxin were studied in 7 patients both when taking lanoxin and when on another ...

Biologic Availability of Digoxin Tablets
JAMA: The Journal of the American Medical Association, 1973One year ago, Lindenbaum and his colleagues 1 published the results of an investigation of the bioavailability of three different brands of digoxin tablets, including two different lots of one brand. While his data indicated that the blood levels varied widely, a follow-up investigation by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) revealed that the brand ...

Pharmacokinetics and biological availability of erythromycin
Infection, 1977A pharmacokinetic model has been developed for erythromycin involving seven transfer or interaction steps. The major steps describing the role of erythromycin derivatives and dosage form design in the absorptive process, impact of protein binding on drug distribution, specificity of erythromycin for bacterial ribosomes, and the determination of serum ...

Assessment of the biologic availability of digoxin in man
Clinical Pharmacology & Therapeutics, 1974Low serum digoxin levels were found in 8 institutionalized patients with congestive heart failure despite daily administration, in standard dosage, of a digoxin preparation for 4 weeks. All 8 patients developed serum levels within the accepted therapeutic range after receiving another digoxin preparation for 1 week.

Food availability and daily biological rhythms
Neuroscience & Biobehavioral Reviews, 1980Restricted daily feeding schedules result in the partial or complete synchronization of a wide range of rhythmic biological functions in rodents. In some cases, exemplified by drinking behavior and liver tyrosine transaminase activity, this represents primarily a direct, exogenous influence of food intake.

Biological availability of inhaled fluticasone propionate in horses
Veterinary Record, 2004Healthy horses received aerosolised, intranasal or oral doses of 3 mg of fluticasone propionate evenly divided over morning and evening treatments for seven days. The bioavailability of the drug was determined in terms of the suppression of the endogenous cortisol concentrations in the horses during the period of treatment.

Determination of the Biological Availability of Methionine and Cystine
Nature, 1961THERE is no adequate method to determine the biological availability of the sulphur-containing amino-acids in the chick, but Schweigert and Guthneck1 have described a technique for the rat A method has therefore been developed for the bioassay of methionine using White Leghorn chicks at 11–18 days of age: it can readily be modified to determine ...

Biological availability of aluminum in commercial ATP
Journal of Inorganic Biochemistry, 1996Abstract Aluminum is a contaminant of commercial ATP. We have used the fluorescent chelation agent morin to define the conditions of solution pH and incubation period under which this contaminating aluminum was biologically available. The biological significance of our model ligand morin was tested in media in which the morin was replaced with the ...

Available biological treatments for complex non-unions
Injury, 2007The treatment of complex non-unions may be lengthy and very expensive. The majority of aseptic non-union cases require a variable degree of biological enhancement. Autologous iliac crest bone graft remains the gold standard of treatment. However, other means of biological stimulation are currently available in the armamentarium of the treating ...
