The Effects of Contamination on Biological Monitoring
Infection Control & Hospital Epidemiology, 2001AbstractWe investigated the frequency and patterns of biological-monitoring–test contamination and the effect of contamination on the growth of test organisms. Overall, the contamination rate was 0.81%, but the rate of contamination varied significantly by sterilization method. Contamination did not appear to inhibit growth of test organisms.

Biological Contaminants in Indoor Environments
1990Description The purpose of this symposium on biological contaminants in indoor environments was to develop and explore sampling and analytical protocols for microbial agents that may be commonly or uncommonly found indoors.

Occupational medicine (Philadelphia, Pa.), 1995
Dr. Seltzer lays the groundwork for a discussion of the importance of a healthy environment by pointing out that most Americans spend at least 90% of their time indoors. He describes conditions that promote biologic contamination, ways that these contaminants induce illness, the key components of any evaluation of an indoor environment, and methods of ...

Determination of biological contaminants in fuels
Chemistry and Technology of Fuels and Oils, 1984The authors determine the characteristic indicators of outward appearance and composition of biomass artificially grown in water/ fuel systems under laboratory conditions. Two full pages of charts present their findings. They conclude that their methods give a reliable determination of the biological nature of contaminants in fuel and fuel systems, and

Wide area restoration following biological contamination
SPIE Proceedings, 2008Current understanding of how to restore a wide area that has been contaminated following a large biological attack is limited. The Department of Homeland Security and Department of Defense are executing a four-year collaborative program named the Interagency Biological Restoration Demonstration (IBRD) program.

Viral iatrogenic contamination and safety of biologicals
Blood Coagulation & Fibrinolysis, 1995The use of biologicals such as bacterial or viral vaccines have an inert risk as a result of their preparation. In the last century it was difficult to determine the correlation of the clinical accidents until the characteristic viral genome became available. Generally, the frequency of accidents provoked by viral vaccines has diminished due to (1) the

Biological responses to indoor air contaminants
Aerobiologia, 1991The scientific study of indoor air quality has been a topic for research in the last two decades; in the late 70's it became an issue of general public perception. The public perceptions have been such tremendous stimuli because they involve aspects of health and welfare (comfort and economics).
