Pazopanib Combined With Vincristine and Irinotecan in Relapsed Wilms Tumor: Encouraging Outcomes in a Heavily Pretreated Pediatric Cohort

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background While Wilms tumor (WT) typically has a favorable prognosis, relapsed cases—especially those with high‐risk histology—remain therapeutically challenging after intensive frontline therapy. The combination of vincristine and irinotecan has demonstrated activity in pediatric solid tumors, and pazopanib, a multi‐targeted tyrosine kinase ...

Potential Early Risk Biomarkers for Reduced Forced Expiratory Volume in Children Post‐Hematopoietic Cell Transplantation

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We sought to identify potential early risk biomarkers for lung disease in children post‐allogeneic HCT. Patients with pulmonary function tests 3 months post‐transplant and plasma samples between days 7 and 14 post‐HCT were included. Six of 27 subjects enrolled had reduced forced expiratory volume 1 (FEV1) z scores.

Flow injection determination of readily assimilable nitrogen compounds during vinification [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
A flow injection method for the determination of readily assimilable nitrogen (r.a.n.), i.e. ammonium and aminated nitrogen, is reported. The difference in pH of the sample in the presence and absence of formaldehyde, which blocks the amino function ...

Nutritional and Behavioral Intervention for Long‐Term Childhood Acute Leukemia Survivors With Metabolic Syndrome

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Purpose Metabolic syndrome (MetS) is a common complication in survivors of childhood acute lymphoblastic and myeloid leukemia (AL), and a major risk factor for premature cardiovascular disease, type‐2‐diabetes, and metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD).

Challenges and Limitations of Biological Network Analysis

open access: yesBioTech, 2022
High-Throughput technologies are producing an increasing volume of data that needs large amounts of data storage, effective data models and efficient, possibly parallel analysis algorithms. Pathway and interactomics data are represented as graphs and add a new dimension of analysis, allowing, among other features, graph-based comparison of organisms ...

Artificial selection for improved energy efficiency is reaching its limits in broiler chickens

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2018
Modern broiler chickens are a major animal husbandry success story, both in terms of efficient resource utilisation and environmental sustainability. However, continuing artificial selection for both efficiency and rapid growth will be subject to both ...

Planar immersion lens with metasurfaces [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The solid immersion lens is a powerful optical tool that allows light entering material from air or vacuum to focus to a spot much smaller than the free-space wavelength. Conventionally, however, they rely on semispherical topographies and are non-planar
