The Prediction of Biological Nitrogen Fixation

open access: yes, 2023
In organic farming systems, biological nitrogen (N) fixation is crucial for short-term productivity and long-term sustainability. However, the estimation of biological N fixation is fraught with difficulties, and many equations attempt to estimate the ...

Heme‐NO Dilates Arteries via Mobilization of NO Moieties From an Intracellular NO Store Within Vascular Smooth Muscle Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Nitrosyl heme emerges as an extracellular nitrodilator that dilates arteries without crossing the cell membrane. Instead, heme‐NO mobilizes NO moieties from a preformed intracellular NO store within vascular smooth muscle, providing both functional and chemical evidence for the NANOS model, revealing a previously unrecognized mechanism of arterial ...

Canagliflozin Alleviates Diabetic Glomerular Endothelial Injury via Melibiose in a Microbiota‐Dependent Manner

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Canagliflozin treatment reshapes the gut microbiota in DKD and elevates levels of melibiose, a metabolite derived from Roseburia intestinalis. Melibiose directly binds to and enhances the enzymatic activity of glyoxalase 1, leading to decreased methylglyoxal accumulation.

Exploring the alternatives of biological nitrogen fixation

open access: yes, 2018
Most biological nitrogen fixation (BNF) results from the activity of the molybdenum nitrogenase (Mo-nitrogenase, Nif), an oxygen-sensitive metalloenzyme complex found in all known diazotrophs.

Self‐Assembling Hybrid Hydrogel Reprograms the Stromal Vascular Fraction to Treat Osteoarthritis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study presents a bioinspired injectable hydrogel that enhances the therapeutic potential of stem cell‐rich stromal vascular fraction for treating osteoarthritis. By reprogramming cell behavior through epigenetic modulation, the hydrogel promotes cartilage regeneration and reduces joint damage in a rat model, offering a promising new approach for ...

ASSOCIATIVE NITROGEN FIXATION IN THE RHIZOSPHERE OF CEREALS DURING SEED INOCULATION BY BACTERIA ARTHROBACTER MYSORENS 7 AND FLAVOBACTERIUM SP.

open access: yesSiberian Journal of Life Sciences and Agriculture
The general lack of knowledge in the conditions of Western Siberia (Omsk region), the nitrogen fixation process and quantitative data on its activity in agroecosystems do not allow us to establish the true role of nitrogen fixing microorganisms in the ...

Cross Kingdom Metabolic Engineering Paradigm Elevating Sustainable Protein Production

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Confronting the dual crisis of escalating global protein demand and unsustainable agriculture necessitates transformative solutions. Here, we pioneer evolutionary insights from maize nitrogen optimization via asparagine synthetase (ASNS) to rewire metabolism in Pichia pastoris.

The Role of Molybdenum in Biological Nitrogen Fixation

open access: yes, 2009
The availability of soil Molybdenum (Mo) especially for acid soil is scarcely found, while their existency determines the process of Nitrogen fixation.
