Evolutionary and Ecological Determinants of the Phenology of Births in Wild Large Herbivores, a Systematic Review

open access: yesMammal Review, Volume 56, Issue 2, June 2026.
This semi‐systematic review supports the two dominant drivers of birth phenology: the seasonality and predation hypotheses. Even though there is evidence of their importance, the effects of female, offspring and population characteristics remain marginally accounted for. Asian and South and Central American species are currently understudied.

The wild grape genome sequence provides insights into the transition from dioecy to hermaphroditism during grape domestication

open access: yesGenome Biology, 2020
Background A key step in domestication of the grapevine was the transition from separate sexes (dioecy) in wild Vitis vinifera ssp. sylvestris (V. sylvestris) to hermaphroditism in cultivated Vitis vinifera ssp. sativa (V. vinifera).

Being confident in confidence scores: calibration in deep learning models for camera trap image sequences

open access: yesRemote Sensing in Ecology and Conservation
In ecological studies, machine learning models are increasingly being used for the automatic processing of camera trap images. Although this automation facilitates and accelerates the identification step, the results of these models may lack ...

De l'observation à l'analyse, implication de la biométrie dans les pays de développement

open access: yes, 1998
Les pays du Nord s'écartent progressivement du "modèle unique", des schémas simplificateurs. Ils se diversifient et diversifient leurs modes de développement.

Recombination, meiotic expression and human codon usage

open access: yeseLife, 2017
Synonymous codon usage (SCU) varies widely among human genes. In particular, genes involved in different functional categories display a distinct codon usage, which was interpreted as evidence that SCU is adaptively constrained to optimize translation ...

Development, feeding, and sex shape the relative quantity of the nutritional obligatory symbiont Wolbachia in bed bugs

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology
The common bed bug, Cimex lectularius, is a hemipteran insect that feeds only on blood, and whose bites cause public health issues. Due to globalization and resistance to insecticides, this pest has undergone a significant and global resurgence in recent

Phylogenetic signal from rearrangements in 18 Anopheles species by joint scaffolding extant and ancestral genomes

open access: yesBMC Genomics, 2018
Background Genomes rearrangements carry valuable information for phylogenetic inference or the elucidation of molecular mechanisms of adaptation. However, the detection of genome rearrangements is often hampered by current deficiencies in data and ...

Sex-differences of survival and seasonal dispersal in a meta-population of greater horseshoe bats

open access: yesScientific Reports
Demographic parameters such as survival and dispersal play a significant role in shaping population dynamics and genetic structure. However, dispersal remains difficult to estimate in natural populations, as it requires extensive individual sampling and ...
