Bio‐Derived Carbon Nanoparticles: A Green Amendment for Alleviating Heavy Metals in Soil–Plant Systems

open access: yesLand Degradation &Development, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Heavy metal (HM) contamination of soil–plant systems poses persistent ecological and health risks, driving interest in nanoparticle‐based remediation. Although conventional chemically synthesized nanoparticles (CSNPs) are effective, their energy‐intensive production and residual toxicity limit sustainable deployment.

Machine Learning‐Assisted Prediction and Analysis of Viscosity and Fusion Characteristics for Coal and Biomass Ash

open access: yesMaterials Genome Engineering Advances, EarlyView.
This study develops a machine learning framework for predicting the flow temperature and viscosity of coal and biomass ash with CatBoost and LightGBM as the optimal models. Feature analysis revealed composition‐property mechanisms, and symbolic regression was further applied to derive empirical formulas for rapid and accurate prediction.

Some love them, others hate them: Understanding farmers' tree planting decisions in Scotland

open access: yesPeople and Nature, EarlyView.
Abstract Agroforestry is increasingly recognized as a sustainable agricultural land use system with potential to sequester carbon, create and repair habitats, enhance biodiversity and offer environmental and socio‐economic benefits, including improved agricultural productivity.

Structural and Rheological Properties of Chitosan‐Biochar Composites Prepared With Waste Biomass‐Derived Biochar

open access: yesPolymer Engineering &Science, EarlyView.
Chitosan dispersions containing biochar derived from vine pruning residue showed increasing shear stress and improved thermal stability with loading. Flow behavior was described by the Bingham plastic model in all cases. These results support the valorization of agricultural waste in functional biopolymer formulations.

Technological and Environmental Assessment of Multi-Crop Biomass Ash Application in Agriculture

open access: yesAgriculture
As solid biofuels gain increasing importance, the issue of rational management of the ash obtained from biofuel combustion is becoming increasingly relevant. This relevance will only increase in the future, since it is predicted that the main biofuel raw
