Effect of Occlusal Adjustment and Subsequent Repolishing on the Translucency Parameter, Contact Angle, and Flexural Strength of Different Types of Glazed Monolithic Zirconia. [PDF]

open access: yesJ Esthet Restor Dent
ABSTRACT Objectives This study evaluated the effects of material and surface condition (glazed vs. polished after simulated occlusal adjustment) on translucency parameter, contact angle, and flexural strength of four monolithic zirconia. Materials and Methods Disk‐shaped specimens (n = 80, Ø12 × 1 mm) were fabricated from four monolithic zirconia ...

Electrospun Poly(caprolactone)/Poly(ethylene oxide) Membranes Incorporating Green-Synthesized Zinc Oxide Nanoparticles for Enhanced Wound Healing Applications. [PDF]

open access: yesSmall Sci
Green‐synthesized zinc oxide nanoparticles obtained via green‐combustion synthesis with Moringa oleifera leaves extract are incorporated into electrospun poly(caprolactone)/poly(ethylene oxide) (PCL/PEO) membranes for wound healing. The resulting composite exhibits enhanced hydrophilicity, high fluid absorption, excellent biocompatibility, and ...

Exploring Zirconia Adhesion: Pre and Postsintering Physical Surface Treatment, Chemical Treatment, and Cement Interactions. [PDF]

open access: yesBiomed Res Int
Background: Adhesion to zirconia remains a significant dental challenge. This study is aimed at assessing the bond strength of zirconia based on surface treatment with pre or postsintering sandblasting associated with different chemical treatments and resin cements.

15‐Year Retrospective Study on the Success Rate of Maxillary Sinus Augmentation and Implants: Influence of Bone Substitute Type, Presurgical Bone Height, and Membrane Perforation during Sinus Lift

open access: yesBioMed Research International, Volume 2023, Issue 1, 2023., 2023
Objectives. To evaluate the success rate of bone grafts and implants carried out at the Latin American Institute for Research and Dental Education (ILAPEO), considering the following: (i) the different pure bone substitutes (autogenous, xenogeneic, and alloplastic), (ii) the presurgical bone height, and (iii) how the treatment is compromised when ...

Biochemical and Toxinological Characterization of Venom from Macrorhynchia philippina (Cnidaria, Hydrozoa)

open access: yesBioMed Research International, Volume 2022, Issue 1, 2022., 2022
Macrorhynchia philippina is a colonial benthic hydroid from the Class Hydrozoa (Phylum Cnidaria) distributed in the tropical and subtropical marine waters from Atlantic Ocean, Indo‐Pacific, and Mozambique. Its colonies somewhat resemble plants, causing confusion in the bathers who accidentally touch the animal. Acute burning/local pain, edema, erythema,

In Silico Screening of Putative Corynebacterium pseudotuberculosis Antigens and Serological Diagnosis for Caseous Lymphadenitis in Sheep by Enzyme‐Linked Immunosorbent Assay

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine International, Volume 2021, Issue 1, 2021., 2021
Corynebacterium pseudotuberculosis is the etiologic agent of Caseous Lymphadenitis (CLA), a disease leading to severe damage in sheep and goats farming due to the lack of serological diagnosis, treatment, and effective prophylaxis. In this context, several strategies in an attempt to discover new antigens to compose diagnosis assays or vaccines are ...

Non‐locked and locked small fragment straight plates have a similar behavior in buttressing the posteromedial shear tibial plateau fragment: a biomechanical analysis of three different fixations

open access: yesJournal of Experimental Orthopaedics, Volume 7, Issue 1, 2020., 2020
Abstract Purpose The aim of this study is to compare the biomechanical behavior of three different fixation constructions currently used for buttressing the posteromedial shearing tibial plateau fragment. Our hypothesis is that non‐locked implants provide sufficient comparable stability in posteromedial tibial plateau fractures as locked implants ...

Pattern of sympathetic vasomotor activity in a model of hypertension induced by nitric oxide synthase blockade

open access: yesPhysiological Reports, Volume 7, Issue 14, July 2019., 2019
Hypertension induced by NO synthase blockade is characterized by increased sympathetic nerve activity to renal (rSNA) and splanchnic nerve (sSNA). The rats that had the greatest reduction in NO levels in plasma by L‐NAME were those that developed higher blood pressure levels.

Evaluation of Hemagglutination Activity of Chitosan Nanoparticles Using Human Erythrocytes

open access: yesBioMed Research International, Volume 2015, Issue 1, 2015., 2015
Chitosan is a polysaccharide composed of randomly distributed chains of β‐(1‐4) D‐glucosamine and N‐acetyl‐D‐glucosamine. This compound is obtained by partial or total deacetylation of chitin in acidic solution. The chitosan‐based hemostatic agents have been gaining much attention in the management of bleeding.

Cell Adhesion to Plasma‐Coated PVC

open access: yesThe Scientific World Journal, Volume 2014, Issue 1, 2014., 2014
To produce environments suitable for cell culture, thin polymer films were deposited onto commercial PVC plates from radiofrequency acetylene‐argon plasmas. The proportion of argon in the plasmas, PAr, was varied from 5.3 to 65.8%. The adhesion and growth of Vero cells on the coated surfaces were examined for different incubation times.
