Non‐locked and locked small fragment straight plates have a similar behavior in buttressing the posteromedial shear tibial plateau fragment: a biomechanical analysis of three different fixations

open access: yesJournal of Experimental Orthopaedics, Volume 7, Issue 1, 2020., 2020
Abstract Purpose The aim of this study is to compare the biomechanical behavior of three different fixation constructions currently used for buttressing the posteromedial shearing tibial plateau fragment. Our hypothesis is that non‐locked implants provide sufficient comparable stability in posteromedial tibial plateau fractures as locked implants ...

Internal Friction and Microstructure of Ti and Ti-Mo Alloys Containing Oxygen

open access: yesArchives of Metallurgy and Materials, 2016
Ti-Mo alloys are promising materials for use as biomaterials, because these alloys have excellent corrosion resistance and a good combination of mechanical properties such as fatigue, low elastic modulus, hardness, and wear resistance.

Effect of the substitutional elements on the microstructure of the Ti-15Mo-Zr and Ti-15Zr-Mo systems alloys

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology, 2015
Titanium alloys have excellent biocompatibility, and combined with their low elastic modulus, become more efficient when applied in orthopedic prostheses.

Interaction of cultured human endothelial cells with polymeric surfaces of different wettabilities [PDF]

open access: yes, 1985
The in vitro interaction of human endothelial cells (HEC) and polymers with different wettabilities in culture medium containing serum was investigated. Optimal adhesion of HEC generally occurred onto moderately wettable polymers.

Pattern of sympathetic vasomotor activity in a model of hypertension induced by nitric oxide synthase blockade

open access: yesPhysiological Reports, Volume 7, Issue 14, July 2019., 2019
Hypertension induced by NO synthase blockade is characterized by increased sympathetic nerve activity to renal (rSNA) and splanchnic nerve (sSNA). The rats that had the greatest reduction in NO levels in plasma by L‐NAME were those that developed higher blood pressure levels.

Evaluation of Hemagglutination Activity of Chitosan Nanoparticles Using Human Erythrocytes

open access: yesBioMed Research International, Volume 2015, Issue 1, 2015., 2015
Chitosan is a polysaccharide composed of randomly distributed chains of β‐(1‐4) D‐glucosamine and N‐acetyl‐D‐glucosamine. This compound is obtained by partial or total deacetylation of chitin in acidic solution. The chitosan‐based hemostatic agents have been gaining much attention in the management of bleeding.

The Influence of Thermomechanical Treatments on the Structure, Microstructure, and Mechanical Properties of Ti-5Mn-Mo Alloys

open access: yesMetals, 2022
With the increase in the world’s population, the rising number of traffic accidents, and the increase in life expectancy, the need for implants, dental work, and orthopedics is growing ever larger. Researchers are working to improve the biomaterials used

Cell Adhesion to Plasma‐Coated PVC

open access: yesThe Scientific World Journal, Volume 2014, Issue 1, 2014., 2014
To produce environments suitable for cell culture, thin polymer films were deposited onto commercial PVC plates from radiofrequency acetylene‐argon plasmas. The proportion of argon in the plasmas, PAr, was varied from 5.3 to 65.8%. The adhesion and growth of Vero cells on the coated surfaces were examined for different incubation times.
