Biomechanical analysis of horse shoeing [PDF]
Most of the principles of farriery have been derived from practical experience and traditional skills of individual farriers. To date, there has been little done in the way of good science and few publications have appeared to advance the discipline.

Objective We examined whether 18 months of strength training in individuals with knee varus alignment and medial tibiofemoral osteoarthritis (OA) reduced knee joint loads during walking compared to an attention control group. Methods This study was a secondary analysis of a randomized clinical trial that compared the effects of strength training to a ...

Development of musculoskeletal model for biomechanical analysis of trans-tibial amputee gait [PDF]

Biological and Biomechanical Evaluation of the Ligament Advanced Reinforcement System (LARS AC) in a Sheep Model of Anterior Cruciate Ligament Replacement: A 3-Month and 12-Month Study [PDF]
PurposeThe purposes of this study were to assess tissue ingrowth within the Ligament Advanced Reinforcement System (LARS) artificial ligament (LARS AC; LARS, Arc sur Tille, France) and to study the biomechanical characteristics of the reconstructed knees

Objective To explore whether higher body fat and lower lean mass are associated with greater pain and worse patient‐reported physical function in individuals with hip osteoarthritis (OA). A secondary aim was to examine whether pain and patient‐reported physical function differ according to four body composition profiles: high body fat, low lean mass ...

This work shows that the mechanical performance of multimaterial digital light processing (DLP) printed thermoset composites is governed by resin compatibility and interfacial design rather than spatial patterning alone. Brittle and ductile resin combinations produced premature interfacial failure, while graded interfaces and mechanically compatible ...

Comparison of Triply Periodic Minimal Surface Energy Absorbers Under Uniaxial Compressive Loading
This study investigates LCD 3D printed Triply Periodic Minimal Surface (TPMS) structures as mechanical energy absorbers. By comparing various base designs and layered combinations under uniaxial compression, it identifies that a Diamond‐Gyroid sandwich structure offers superior performance.

Performance of the resurfaced hip. Part 2: the influence of prosthesis stem design on remodelling and fracture of the femoral neck [PDF]
Hip resurfacing is a popular treatment for osteoarthritis in young, active patients. Previous studies have shown that occasional failures – femoral neck fracture and implant loosening, possibly associated with bone adaptation – are affected by prosthesis

This article presents an experimental and numerical modal investigation of composite sandwich structures using surfboards as model systems. By comparing different core materials and reinforcement strategies, the study demonstrates how local stiffeners influence vibrational response and introduce characteristic modal features, highlighting modal ...
