CD47 promotes mitogen‐activated protein kinase and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition molecular programs to drive prometastatic phenotypes in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Beyond its role in immune evasion, this study identified that CD47 drives tumor‐intrinsic signaling in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Transcriptomic profiling and functional studies revealed that CD47 regulates cell adhesion, migration, and metastasis through an ERK–EMT signaling axis.

An SVD approach to reaching tasks based on cartesian geodesics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
We are interested in human motion characterization and automatic motion simulation. The apparent redundancy of the humanoid w.r.t its explicit tasks lead to the problem of choosing a plausible movement in the framework of redundant kinematics.

Molecular cancer prevention: Intercepting disease

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Oncological practice must evolve, from treating established tumours to proactive cancer interception before clinical manifestation. This will require mechanistic insight into tumour initiation, validated biomarkers of early disease development and redesigned clinical trials, enabling cancer interception to become a core pillar of oncology with the ...

Preserving spatial and quantitative information in unpaired biomedical image-to-image translation

open access: yesCell Reports: Methods
Summary: Analysis of biological samples often requires integrating diverse imaging modalities to gain a comprehensive understanding. While supervised biomedical image translation methods have shown success in synthesizing images across different ...

Anatomical landmark based registration of contrast enhanced T1-weighted MR images [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
In many problems involving multiple image analysis, an im- age registration step is required. One such problem appears in brain tumor imaging, where baseline and follow-up image volumes from a tu- mor patient are often to-be compared.

Development of human monoclonal antibodies against TARM1 by yeast display

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Human monoclonal antibodies against TARM1 are generated by yeast display‐guided selection. These antibodies bind to soluble and cell‐surface forms of TARM1. Also, these antibodies exhibit agonistic activity in the NFAT‐GFP reporter assay, indicating that TARM1 signaling can be functionally modulated by antibodies and suggesting TARM1 as a potential ...

Māori and community news constructions of Meningococcal B: the promotion of a moral obligation to vaccinate [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
News media communicate various risks of disease, showcase medical breakthroughs and disseminate texts that both reflect and renegotiate shared cultural understandings of health and illness. Little is known about the role of Māori and community news media

Digital twins to accelerate target identification and drug development for immune‐mediated disorders

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Digital twins integrate patient‐derived molecular and clinical data into personalised computational models that simulate disease mechanisms. They enable rapid identification and validation of therapeutic targets, prediction of drug responses, and prioritisation of candidate interventions.

Adverse effects of total hip arthroplasty on the hip abductor and adductor muscle lengths and moment arms during gait

open access: yesJournal of Orthopaedic Surgery and Research, 2020
Background Precise evaluation of the hip abductor and adductor muscles function in total hip arthroplasty (THA) patients during gait could help prevent postoperative complications and optimize the rehabilitation training program.
