Foi observado o comportamento de larvas de S. mansoni em moluscos prévia e naturalmente infectados por larvas de outros Digenea. Foi verificado que as larvas de S. mansoni não se desenvolveram nos moluscos previamente infectados com purcocercárias longifurcadas com ocelos ou com furcocercárias longifurcadas sem ocelos.
