Optical Manipulation of Whispering Gallery Mode Microlasers for Controlled Cellular Delivery

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Optically trapped whispering‑gallery microlasers are precisely positioned onto non‐phagocytic mammalian cells to report local refractive‑index changes in real time. Time‑dependent wavelength shifts reveal successive stages from membrane contact to internalization.

Monitoring leaf area index at watershed level through NDVI from Landsat-7/ETM+ data

open access: yesScientia Agricola, 2004
Leaf area index (LAI) is an important parameter of the vegetation canopy, and is used, for instance, to estimate evapotranspiration, an important component of the hydrological cycle. This work analyzed the relationship between LAI, measured in field, and

Remote sensing based assessment of biophysical indicators for land degradation and desertification [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Desert ecosystems spanning moisture conditions from dry grasslands to barren hyper-arid landscapes are the largest terrestrial biome with more than 40% of the terrestrial landmass. Remote sensing data provide an efficient costeffective means to assess biophysical indicators of land degradation and desertification, providing that essential ecosystem ...

Dose‐Dependent Reprogramming of Chromatin Accessibility by SOX4 Drives the Transcriptional Response to Iron Overload

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that iron overload triggers widespread chromatin compaction and transcriptional repression in human granulosa cells, recapitulating features of endometriosis. The epigenetic reprogramming is orchestrated by a TFEB‐SOX4‐SWI/SNF axis, with SOX4 acting as a central, dosage‐sensitive regulator.

Why confining to vegetation indices? exploiting the potential of improved spectral observations using radiative transfer models [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Vegetation indices (VI) combine mathematically a few selected spectral bands to minimize undesired effects of soil background, illumination conditions and atmospheric perturbations.

A Review of Landsat TM/ETM based Vegetation Indices as Applied to Wetland Ecosystems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
A review of vegetation indices as applied to Landsat-TM and ETM+ multispectral data is presented. The review focuses on indices that have been developed to produce biophysical information about vegetation biomass/greenness, moisture and pigments. In ...

Mapping the “Supply–Demand–Flow” of Ecosystem Services for Ecosystem Management in China

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study develops a “supply–demand–flow” framework clarifies how ecosystem services move between regions by distinguishing potential and actual supply and demand. Using integrated biophysical–socioeconomic modeling, nine services in China were mapped.

Enhancing Maturation of Human Neuromuscular Organoids via Electrical Stimulation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A framework for on‐demand and non‐invasive exposure of human neuromuscular organoids (NMOs) to electrical stimuli is established to promote their maturation. The robustness and effectiveness of different stimulation regimes are evaluated via thorough characterization of organoid tissue structure and contraction capacity. Chronic electrical stimulation,

Nadir and off‐nadir hyperspectral field data: strengths and limitations in estimating grassland biophysical characteristics

open access: yes, 2007
In recent years, hyperspectral and multi‐angular approaches for quantifying biophysical characteristics of vegetation have become more widely used.
