Relationship Between Biophysical Parameters and Synthetic Indices Derived from Hyperspectral Field Data in a Salt Marsh from Buenos Aires Province, Argentina

open access: yesWetlands (Wilmington, N.C.), 2016
A bstractRemote sensing tools allow the environmental evaluation of coastal wetlands at a landscape scale, but a deeper understanding is needed of the interactions between biophysical parameters and the electromagnetic signal.

Biophysical indicators of sustainability of North Island hill pasture systems

open access: yesProceedings of the New Zealand Grassland Association, 1995
"Sustainability" is a social construct, and is difficult to define in precise value-free terms. It has ecological (biophysical) and socio-economic dimensions. Biophysical indicators are tools that can be used to define resource status. They cannot directly measure sustainability, but are useful for comparing present resource status with defined limits ...

Microenvironmental Reprogramming by 3D Anisotropic Cardiac Extracellular Matrix Induces Nuclear Remodeling and Epigenetic Maturation of Chemically Induced Cardiomyocytes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A 3D anisotropic hydrogel derived from heart extracellular matrix guides cytoskeletal alignment and nuclear remodeling in reprogrammed cardiomyocyte‐like cells. This study reveals how matrix alignment modulates nuclear envelope dynamics and chromatin state, triggering transcriptional and functional maturation.

Progression of vulnerability to earthquakes in the urban area of the District of Santiago de Cali, Colombia

open access: yesRevista de Estudios Latinoamericanos sobre Reducción del Riesgo de Desastres, 2023
Disaster risk management in urban environments depends to a large extent on the availability of information related to studies and cartographic products that express the social, economic and environmental conditions that intervene in the construction of ...

Intrinsic Photoactive Star ZnPc–Poly(glutamate) Nanoplatforms for Multimodal Glioblastoma Therapy and Brain‐Targeted Delivery

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An intrinsic photoactive star‐shaped zinc phtalocyanine‐poly(L‐glutamic acid) (ZnPc‐PGA) nanoplatform for multimodal glioblastoma (GBM) therapy and brain‐targeted elivery. A ZnPc‐PGA‐based multifunctional theranostic nanocarrier platform enables image‐guided, multimodal GBM therapy. ZnPc‐PGA nanocarriers support the integration of fluorescence imaging,

Micronekton indicators evolution based on biophysically defined provinces

open access: yesState of the Planet
Abstract. Micronekton are mid-trophic marine organisms characterized by a size range of 2 to 20 cm, gathering a wide diversity of taxa (crustaceans, fish, molluscs, etc.). They are responsible for an important active carbon export to the deep ocean because of their diel vertical migrations and constitute the main prey for pelagic predators.

Spatial error models of land fragmentation indices regressed on biophysical and socioeconomic drivers.

open access: yes, 2014
Values are significant intercepts or coefficients for the corresponding variables. The first subscript of the fragmentation index indicates urban (U) or forest (F), and the second indicates the year of 2000 (00), 1991 (91), or 1977 (77).

Chemical Maturation Controls Bioavailability of Fetuin‐A‐Mineral Complexes in Biomineralization

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The role of Fetuin‐A‐mineral complexes in matrix mineralization is unclear. Here, Fetuin‐A‐mineral complexes were found to exist in functionally distinct states that determine mineral bioavailability: chemically labile calciprotein monomers directly mineralize collagen fibrils, while chemically matured primary calciprotein particles require cellular ...
