The design of a Space-borne multispectral canopy LiDAR to estimate global carbon stock and gross primary productivity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Understanding the dynamics of the global carbon cycle is one of the most challenging issues for the scientific community. The ability to measure the magnitude of terrestrial carbon sinks as well as monitoring the short and long term changes is vital for ...

ESTIMATION OF MANGROVE FOREST ABOVEGROUND BIOMASS USING MULTISPECTRAL BANDS, VEGETATION INDICES AND BIOPHYSICAL VARIABLES DERIVED FROM OPTICAL SATELLITE IMAGERIES: RAPIDEYE, PLANETSCOPE AND SENTINEL-2

open access: yes, 2018
. Aboveground biomass estimation (AGB) is essential in determining the environmental and economic values of mangrove forests. Biomass prediction models can be developed through integration of remote sensing, field data and statistical models.

Hydropower and environmental sustainability: A holistic assessment using multiple biophysical indicators

open access: yesEcological Indicators, 2021
Along with other low-carbon combustion-free energy sources, hydropower is considered a valuable tool for mitigating the current climate and ecological crisis and achieve environmental sustainability. However, it is still unclear to what extent hydropower is or not environmentally sustainable. The literature reveals i) that no truly holistic assessments

Circulating tumor cell viability during and after radiotherapy mirrors treatment response in cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Radiotherapy (RT) response depends on the DNA repair capacity of tumor and host cells. We show that circulating tumor cell (CTC) counts and apoptosis rates before and after RT predict treatment response and outcome, which can be accessed via easily accessible liquid biopsy approaches. Created in BioRender. Wikman, H.

Use of terrestrial remote sensing to estimate soybeans and beans biophysical parameters

open access: yes, 2021
Vegetation Indices are important for agricultural monitoring and the assessment of biophysical attributes of different crops. In this context, the objective of this study was to evaluate the relationships between normalized difference vegetation indices (

Diffusion Spectrum Imaging Maps Early Axonal Loss and a Unique Progressive Signal in Neuronal Intranuclear Inclusion Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To delineate specific in vivo white matter pathology in neuronal intranuclear inclusion disease (NIID) using diffusion spectrum imaging (DSI) and define its clinical relevance. Methods DSI was performed on 42 NIID patients and 38 matched controls.

Epilepsy‐Associated Variants of a Single SCN1A Codon Exhibit Divergent Functional Properties

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Pathogenic variants in SCN1A, which encodes the voltage‐gated sodium channel NaV1.1, are associated with multiple epilepsy syndromes exhibiting a range of clinical severity. SCN1A variants are reported in different syndromes, including Dravet syndrome, which is associated with loss‐of‐function, whereas neonatal/infantile‐onset ...

T1 Over Squared Proton Density Ratio to Characterize Multiple Sclerosis Lesions

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Differentiating remyelinated from demyelinated lesions in MS remains challenging without histological confirmation. This study introduces the T1‐to‐PD2 ratio (TPR) imaging approach and evaluates its ability to characterize MS lesions alongside other quantitative MRI (qMRI) metrics. Methods Thirty individuals with MS (mean age: 47.5 ±
