A computer simulation of reconstitute systems of motor proteins revealed biophysical phenomena relevant to biomedical engineering

2014 International Symposium on Micro-NanoMechatronics and Human Science (MHS), 2014
We present a simulation study of gliding assays of cytoskeletal filaments and their associated motor proteins. The gliding assays serve as a basis of applications of motor proteins for nanotechnology. For example, cargo-loading cytoskeletal filaments propelled by the associated motor proteins, which is so-called molecular shuttles (MSs), can be ...

[Investigation on the biophysical features of strong luminescence phenomena in the 14 channel of human body].

Zhen ci yan jiu = Acupuncture research, 1990
During the last few years, using the ultra-feeble cold luminescence signal of the body surface as an indicator, we had previously characterized quantitatively the dominant propagated sensation along the classical channels and the regulatory effects of acupuncture on human body.

Biophysics of gating phenomena in voltage-dependent OmpC mutant porin channels (R74C and R37C) of Escherichia coli outer membranes

European Biophysics Journal, 2002
The mechanism by which the membrane potential closes and opens voltage-dependent beta-barrel membrane channels is not fully understood. OmpC porins form trimeric water-filled channels when incorporated into artificial bilayers, each monomer having a conductance of approximately 510 pS in 1 M KCl.

Detection of a fractal system of tripling periods known from physical, geophysical, biophysical, and biological phenomena in technical appliances

Biophysics, 2016
The authors expand the analysis of the so-called fractal of tripling periods manifested in various physical, geophysical, biophysical, and biological phenomena to demonstrate the adjustment of processes that occur in complex technical devices to the same pattern.

Biophysical modeling of wave propagation phenomena: experimental determination of pulse wave velocity in viscous fluid-filled elastic tubes in a gravitation field

European Biophysics Journal, 2019
Biophysical understanding of arterial hemodynamics plays an important role in proper medical diagnosis and investigation of cardiovascular disease pathogens. One of the major cardiovascular parameters is pulse wave velocity (PWV), which depends on the mechanical properties of the arterial wall.

A study of biophysical phenomena associated with gas bubble trauma in fish

1985
The condition of Gas Bubble Trauma in fish was examined in terms of specific symptoms involving bubble development in the circulatory system and buccal cavities of fish. Based on a comparison between the conditions for bubble growth in fish exposed to supersaturated water and mammals exposed to hyperbaric and hypobaric decompression a mathematical ...

Multi-Scale Modeling Of Biophysical Phenomena: Ionic Transport, Biomineralization, And Force Spectroscopy

2011
Biophysics is the study of the complex physical processes occurring in biological systems that are responsible for life. This dissertation addresses three important topics in biophysics: ionic transport, biomineralization, and force spectroscopy. Ionic transport involves the passage of ions through a special class of hollow, transmembrane proteins ...

Nonlinear quantum phenomena and biophysical aspects of complexity related to health and disease.

Journal of biological regulators and homeostatic agents, 2014
In this paper we discuss living systems as a non-linear self-interacting phenomenon, stabilized by the non-linear interaction between matter and self-created electromagnetic field. Such electromagnetic field can arise, in particular, as the radiation from electrosolitons which mediate the charge transport along macromolecules in metabolic redox ...

Bacterial and biophysical aspects of macroaggregation phenomena in the northern Adriatic Sea

1998
Transformation of DOC pool into gelatinous clouds and surface layers (Stachowitsch et al. 1990) composed of polysaccharide matrix, microorganisms (Revelante, Gillmartin, 1991 ; Herndl, 1992) is a dramatic manifestation of microbially mediated POM-DOM transformation.

Clustering Dynamically Modulate the Biophysics of Voltage-Gated Sodium Channels: How Nanoscale Phenomena Determine Health and Disease

ABSTRACTPrecise regulation of ion channel biophysics is an essential life process that governs electrical signaling in excitable tissues. Many ion channels including voltage-gated Na+channels (NaVs) exist in the membrane as clusters, which show distinct biophysical behavior not predicted by single-channel measurements.
