Biophysical phenomena in the circulatory system during indirect blood pressure measurement and analysis of measuring instruments

Biomedical Engineering, 1986
1. Conditions of local increase in the characteristic impedance of blood vessels leading to interference between incident and reflected waves of arterial pressure, analysis of which yields criteria for measurement of systolic and diastolic pressure, compared with the Korotov's sounds whose use is widely established in clinical practice, are examined.

Biophysics of gating phenomena in voltage-dependent OmpC mutant porin channels (R74C and R37C) of Escherichia coli outer membranes

European Biophysics Journal, 2002
The mechanism by which the membrane potential closes and opens voltage-dependent beta-barrel membrane channels is not fully understood. OmpC porins form trimeric water-filled channels when incorporated into artificial bilayers, each monomer having a conductance of approximately 510 pS in 1 M KCl.

Bacterial and biophysical aspects of macroaggregation phenomena in the northern Adriatic Sea

1998
Transformation of DOC pool into gelatinous clouds and surface layers (Stachowitsch et al. 1990) composed of polysaccharide matrix, microorganisms (Revelante, Gillmartin, 1991 ; Herndl, 1992) is a dramatic manifestation of microbially mediated POM-DOM transformation.

Nonlinear quantum phenomena and biophysical aspects of complexity related to health and disease.

Journal of biological regulators and homeostatic agents, 2014
In this paper we discuss living systems as a non-linear self-interacting phenomenon, stabilized by the non-linear interaction between matter and self-created electromagnetic field. Such electromagnetic field can arise, in particular, as the radiation from electrosolitons which mediate the charge transport along macromolecules in metabolic redox ...

Multi-Scale Modeling Of Biophysical Phenomena: Ionic Transport, Biomineralization, And Force Spectroscopy

2011
Biophysics is the study of the complex physical processes occurring in biological systems that are responsible for life. This dissertation addresses three important topics in biophysics: ionic transport, biomineralization, and force spectroscopy. Ionic transport involves the passage of ions through a special class of hollow, transmembrane proteins ...

[Biophysical phenomena in the circulatory system in indirect measurement of the arterial pressure and an analysis of the devices for its measurement].

Meditsinskaia tekhnika, 1986
Evaluation of commercially available blood pressure meters is performed. The effect of biophysical processes occurring in blood flow on indirect measurements of blood pressure is analysed. Some conclusions are given.

Understanding the stability of active dry yeast through the phenomena of dehydration and rehydration by biophysical and microbiological approaches

2021
The preservation of the viability of micro-organisms of interest during the drying process as well as during the storage is a real industrial challenge. Indeed, active dry yeasts encounter various disturbances (hydric, thermal or mechanical) from their production to their final use, resulting in a decrease in the number of revivable cells in the ...

Clustering Dynamically Modulate the Biophysics of Voltage-Gated Sodium Channels: How Nanoscale Phenomena Determine Health and Disease

ABSTRACT Precise regulation of ion channel biophysics is an essential life process that governs electrical signaling in excitable tissues. Many ion channels including voltage-gated Na + channels (Na V s) exist in the membrane as clusters, which ...
