Noninvasive Assessment of Coronary Artery Disease: Recent Techniques, Diagnostic Accuracy, and Clinical Implications for Modern Cardiology–A Narrative Review

open access: yesHealth Science Reports, Volume 8, Issue 3, March 2025.
ABSTRACT Background and Aims Coronary artery disease (CAD), a leading cause of death globally, is among the most commonly diagnosed manifestations of heart disease. Although invasive coronary angiography (ICA) remains the “gold standard” to detect CAD, it is accompanied by several limitations.

Left Bundle Branch Pacing in a Pediatric Patient With Tricuspid Valve Replacement for a Complex Ebstein Anomaly

open access: yesAnnals of Noninvasive Electrocardiology, Volume 30, Issue 2, March 2025.
This paper presents a unique case of successful implementation of left bundle branch pacing (LBBP) in a pediatric patient with third‐degree atrioventricular block following tricuspid valve replacement for a complex Ebstein anomaly. The procedure was performed under real‐time recording technique, and resulted in the resolution of the patient's symptoms.

Three‐Year Outcomes With a Supra‐Annular, Self‐Expanding Bioprosthesis and a Pericardial Wrap—The FORWARD PRO Study

open access: yesCatheterization and Cardiovascular Interventions, Volume 105, Issue 3, Page 577-587, February 15, 2025.
ABSTRACT Background The self‐expanding, supra‐annular Evolut valve is an established platform for Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI). Evolut PRO introduced an outer sealing wrap to mitigate paravalvular leakage. We evaluated the 3‐year clinical outcomes and valve performance of the Evolut PRO in standard clinical practice for severe aortic ...

Biomechanical analysis of novel leaflet geometries for bioprosthetic valvesCentral MessagePerspective

open access: yesJTCVS Open, 2023
Objectives: Although bioprosthetic valves have excellent hemodynamic properties and can eliminate the need for lifelong anticoagulation therapy, these devices are associated with high rates of reoperation and limited durability.

Transcatheter Valve Implantation in Failed Surgically Inserted Bioprosthesis Review and Practical Guide to Echocardiographic Imaging in Valve-in-Valve Procedures [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
An increased use of bioprosthetic heart valves has stimulated an interest in possible transcatheter options for bioprosthetic valve failure given the high operative risk.

Clinical outcomes, hemodynamics, and leaflet thrombosis following transcatheter aortic valve replacement with novel intra‐annular devices

open access: yesHealth Science Reports, Volume 8, Issue 2, February 2025.
Abstract Background The indication of transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) is becoming more prevalent among younger and lower‐risk patients. However, data on the latest intra‐annular TAVR devices are limited. This study aims to compare the short‐term clinical outcomes of two intra‐annular transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) devices ...

Durability of a bovine pericardial aortic bioprosthesis based on Valve Academic Research Consortium-3 echocardiographic criteriaCentral MessagePerspective

open access: yesJTCVS Open, 2022
Objectives: The Carpentier-Edwards Perimount Magna Ease (Edwards Lifesciences) pericardial bioprosthesis has demonstrated satisfying hemodynamics at midterm follow-up, but its durability remains unclear.

Abdominal wall repair with acellular bovine pericardial membranes - Part I - Clinical and radiological findings [PDF]

open access: yesRevista Brasileira de Cirurgia Plástica
Introduction: Reducing recurrence rates significantly, the use of biomaterials as “reinforcement meshes” in the repair of different abdominal wall defects has become an almost mandatory routine for the success of these repairs.

Results of matching valve and root repair to aortic valve and root pathology [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
ObjectiveFor patients with aortic root pathology and aortic valve regurgitation, aortic valve replacement is problematic because no durable bioprosthesis exists, and mechanical valves require lifetime anticoagulation. This study sought to assess outcomes

Two‐year clinical outcomes of Taiwanese and other Asian ethnicities with atrial fibrillation treated with edoxaban in the ETNA‐AF Asia registry

open access: yesJournal of Arrhythmia, Volume 41, Issue 1, February 2025.
In this sub‐analysis of the ETNA‐AF registry on Asian patients, the low clinical event rates in two‐year follow‐up reassure the effectiveness and safety of edoxaban in routine care for AF patients in Taiwan, South Korea, Hong Kong, and Thailand. Abstract Background The non‐vitamin K oral anticoagulant (NOAC), edoxaban, is approved for stroke prevention
