Correlation of Fine Needle Aspiration Cytology and Histopathology Diagnosis in the Evaluation of Breast Lumps

open access: yesInternational Journal of Medical Students, 2014
Background: A large number of patients have been suffer from breast cancer worldwide and this trend is increasing. It is difficult to determine whether a lump is benign or malignant from clinical assessment; thus, the need for micropic and tissue ...

A Comparative Study and Assessment of Burn Wound Sepsis Using Surface Swab, Fine Needle Aspiration and Wound Biopsy Cultures

open access: yesIndian Journal of Plastic Surgery, 1994
The purpose of this study was to evaluate a simple standardized fine needle aspiration method for bacteriologic assessment of burn wound and to determine whether this method is as reliable and useful as the classic invasive biopsy culture method1 ...

Comparison of EUS-guided tissue acquisition using two different 19-gauge core biopsy needles: a multicenter, prospective, randomized, and blinded study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
BACKGROUND AND STUDY AIMS: The optimal core biopsy needle for endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) is unknown. The principle aim of this study is to compare outcomes of EUS-fine-needle biopsy (EUS-FNB) with a new 19-gauge EUS histology needle (ProCore, Cook ...

Deep Learning‐Assisted Coherent Raman Scattering Microscopy

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
The analytical capabilities of coherent Raman scattering microscopy are augmented through deep learning integration. This synergistic paradigm improves fundamental performance via denoising, deconvolution, and hyperspectral unmixing. Concurrently, it enhances downstream image analysis including subcellular localization, virtual staining, and clinical ...

World Health Organization (WHO)/International Society of Urological Pathology (ISUP) grading in fine‐needle aspiration biopsies of renal masses [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Background Utilization of fine‐needle aspiration (FNA) biopsy for the evaluation of renal masses has been increasing at our institution. At times diagnostic material on direct smears is superior to that in the cell block/core biopsy, therefore assigning

Patient‐Mounted Neuro Optical Coherence Tomography for Targeted Minimally Invasive Micro‐Resolution Volumetric Imaging in Brain In Vivo

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, Volume 7, Issue 3, March 2025.
Herein, a patient‐mounted neuro optical coherence tomography system that integrates a 5 degrees‐of‐freedom skull‐mounted robot (Skullbot) with a 0.6 mm neuroendoscope for targeted, minimally invasive deep brain imaging, is developed. The system offers high‐resolution imaging with precise deployment, demonstrated through successful tumor imaging in a ...

Metastasis to parotid gland from non Head and Neck tumors [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Most primary tumors spreading metastasis to the parotid gland are usually located in the head and neck region, nonetheless, rarely, parotid gland can also be the target of metastatic localization site of distant primary tumors.

Custom Shape Formation in Continuum Robots Using Compliant Bistable Segments for Medical Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
This article describes the integration of compliant bi‐stability in continuum robots. This integration leads to two variants of compliant bistable mechanism (CBM) integrated continuum robot segments, extending and locking. Results show that when used together, these CBM‐integrated segments allow the continuum robot to form custom shapes.
