TRANSTHORACIC NEEDLE BIOPSY

Radiologic Clinics of North America, 2000
Transthoracic needle biopsy (TNB) has emerged as the semi-invasive technique of choice for the diagnosis of localized intrathoracic lesions. Using CT, fluoroscopic, or sonographic guidance, TNB is highly accurate and safe when combined with expert pathologic interpretation of the aspirated specimen.

Acuity of biopsy needles

Biomaterials, 1989
The acuities of the conventional biopsy device and of a new design of biopsy needle holder were determined in an in vitro study using fresh pork kidney. A second study, using fresh beef kidney, evaluated the effect of different surface treatments on the acuity of biopsy needles.

NEEDLE BIOPSY OF THE LIVER

Journal of the American Medical Association, 1949
During the past four years needle biopsy of the liver has been carried out at the Cincinnati General Hospital 403 times on 345 patients. There has been no fatality or hemorrhage severe enough to require blood transfusion. In 1947, we reported experiences with 195 biopsies made on 170 patients.

Transthoracic needle biopsy

World Journal of Surgery, 1992
AbstractPercutaneous fine‐needle aspiration biopsy is a relatively simple invasive procedure with good patient acceptance, low morbidity, and almost negligible mortality. It provides a diagnosis of pulmonary, hilar, and mediastinal masses quickly and accurately, thus eliminating many laboratory tests, saving hospital days, and thereby saving time and ...

Needle Muscle Biopsy

JCR: Journal of Clinical Rheumatology, 1997
We review our experience with needle muscle biopsy, including technique, results, complications, and outcome. We have collected data from 40 consecutive patients undergoing needle muscle biopsy of the quadriceps muscle. All biopsies were performed by the same operator and 98% were performed in the outpatient clinic. Specimens were sent to pathology for

Transthoracic Needle Biopsy

New England Journal of Medicine, 1967
IN spite of several earlier attempts to develop a safe and reliable method, needle biopsy of pulmonary lesions has not become generally accepted in the diagnosis of lung diseases. Complications such as life-threatening bleedings, infection, air embolism and pneumothorax were probably the main reasons for this.

NEEDLE BIOPSY OF THE LIVER

Archives of Internal Medicine, 1948
IT HAS been apparent for years that some aid must be found in making an early diagnosis of diseases of the liver, especially when there is minimal or moderate functional impairment. Employment of needle biopsy of the liver has been useful in this regard, and evidence is accumulating which indicates the value of this procedure.

Needle Biopsy of the Liver

Archives of Internal Medicine, 1960
Two decades have elapsed since Iverson and Roholm 1 popularized liver biopsy as a diagnostic procedure. Ever since, numerous series of papers have been published from different countries emphasizing the importance and efficacy of this procedure as a diagnostic and research method.

Appraisal of Needle Biopsy

Postgraduate Medicine, 1961
If properly performed, needle biopsy is a useful diagnostic procedure which often is more advantageous than other biopsy methods. It is safe, expeditious and inexpensive. Needle biopsy consists of (1) aspiration of bits of tissue or of a core of tissue through the needle into the syringe or (2) cutting of a core of tissue which is withdrawn with the ...
