First experience with the use of a partially bioresorbable bone substitution material in a patient with 34-year old chronic osteomyelitis of the tibia

open access: yesГений oртопедии
Introduction The most common approach to the treatment of osteomyelitic cavities (Cierny – Mader type III) is a two-stage approach proposed by Masquelet, the main shortcoming of which is the need to perform a second surgical intervention which results ...

Electronic jelly: Engineering the mechanics of hydrogels for flexible electronics

open access: yesFlexMat, Volume 3, Issue 2, Page 263-285, June 2026.
By unifying mechanical reinforcement strategies—double networks, structural ordering, and dynamic interactions—this review demonstrates how engineered hydrogels can transcend their fragility to achieve the strength, toughness, and reliability required for flexible electronics, including wearable sensors, energy devices, and soft robotic systems ...

Self‐Expanding Cardiovascular Stents: Potentials and Challenges of Shape Memory Biomaterials

open access: yesJournal of Biomedical Materials Research Part B: Applied Biomaterials, Volume 114, Issue 6, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Cardiovascular diseases affect a large portion of the global population and remain leading causes of morbidity and mortality. Endovascular stenting, a minimally invasive procedure, enables the insertion and deployment of stents to restore arterial patency without open surgery.

From Concept to Clinic: Pre‐Clinical Testing and Regulatory Considerations in Spine Implant Development

open access: yesJOR SPINE, Volume 9, Issue 2, June 2026.
Spine implant development follows a regulated, iterative pathway from clinical need and design through material selection, prototyping, preclinical validation, and regulatory approval to post‐market surveillance. Biomechanical evaluation and risk‐based frameworks integrate across all stages, ensuring safe, effective translation from concept to clinical

Hybrid Multiphoton Lithography Scaffolds for Nanoscale Mechanobiological Assessment in Microscale Bone Models

open access: yesSmall, Volume 22, Issue 33, 12 June 2026.
This work presents a 3D hybrid tissue scaffold inspired by bone, incorporating collagen, fabricated using multiphoton lithography. The mechanical properties of collagen are tunable, and biodegradation allows for time‐dependent changes in geometry. The results demonstrate enhanced osteogenic differentiation of stem cells in our hybrid scaffolds.

Imparting Biodegradability to Highly‐Efficient Upconversion Nanoparticles via Facet‐Selective Zirconium Doping

open access: yesSmall, Volume 22, Issue 32, 8 June 2026.
A simple incorporation of Zr imparts biodegradability to inherently inert rare‐earth‐based upconversion nanoparticles without compromising optical performance. Surface energy modulation of LiREF4 facets by a binary‐surfactant system enables Zr incorporation during hot‐injection synthesis.
