Digital technology dilemma: on unlocking the soil quality index conundrum

open access: yesBioresources and Bioprocessing, 2021
Knowledge of the interactions between soil systems, management practices, and climatic extremes are critical for prescription-based sustainable practices that reduce environmental pollution/footprints, disruption of food supply chains, food contamination,

MicroRNA-124 Promotes Singapore Grouper Iridovirus Replication and Negatively Regulates Innate Immune Response

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2021
Viral infections seriously affect the health of organisms including humans. Now, more and more researchers believe that microRNAs (miRNAs), one of the members of the non-coding RNA family, play significant roles in cell biological function, disease ...

Economic viability of phytoremediation of a cadmium contaminated agricultural area using energy maize: part I: effect on the farmer's income [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
This paper deals with the economic viability of using energy maize as a phytoremediation crop in a vast agricultural area moderately contaminated with metals. The acceptance of phytoremediation as a remediation technology is, besides the extraction rate,

Engineering Immortalized Bovine Granulosa Cells Using a Triple-Gene Approach: Mutant CDK4, Cyclin D1, and TERT. [PDF]

open access: yesCell Biol Int
ABSTRACT Advancing reproductive technologies in livestock is essential to improve both productivity and genetic potential of cattle. Despite this importance, application of reproductive biotechnologies in cattle breeding remains limited. Bovine granulosa cells (bGCs), which are key components of the ovarian follicle, are critical in female reproduction

The Rodent-Specific MicroRNA Cluster within the Sfmbt2 Gene Is Imprinted and Essential for Placental Development

open access: yesCell Reports, 2017
Summary: MicroRNAs (miRNAs) represent small noncoding RNAs that are involved in physiological and developmental processes by posttranscriptionally inhibiting gene expression. One of the largest miRNA clusters in mice is located in intron 10 of the Sfmbt2

Influence of high-intensity ultrasound on the IgE binding capacity of Act d 2 allergen, secondary structure, and In-vitro digestibility of kiwifruit proteins

open access: yesUltrasonics Sonochemistry, 2021
Kiwifruit can trigger allergic reactions that can lead to death, causing public health concerns worldwide. In the present study, we treated kiwifruit samples with high-intensity ultrasound (20 kHz, 400 W, 50% duty cycle) for 0 to 16 min to evaluate its ...

A comparative study of fuzzy logic-based models for groundwater quality evaluation based on irrigation indices

open access: yesJournal of Water and Land Development, 2019
Groundwater quality modelling plays an important role in water resources management decision making processes. Accordingly, models must be developed to account for the uncertainty inherent in the modelling process, from the sample measurement stage ...

High‐level expression of xyloglucanase B from Rhizomucor miehei and its application in the preparation of partially hydrolyzed apple pomace xyloglucan

open access: yesFood Bioengineering, 2022
A xyloglucanase gene (RmXEG12B) was cloned from Rhizomucor miehei CAU432 and successfully expressed in Pichia pastoris. The highest xyloglucanase activity of 26,200 U/mL was achieved after 168 h high‐cell‐density fermentation.
