Dual‐Functional Sulfonated Nanocellulose for Proton Exchange Membranes With High Proton Conductivity at Low Humidity

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
A scalable dual‐functional strategy yields simultaneously sulfonated and nanosized cellulose for proton exchange membranes with continuous hydrogen‐bond networks. These sustainable membranes exhibit low‐humidity proton conductivity twofold higher than Nafion 212, providing a robust solution for next‐generation fuel cells.

Characteristics of hot-compressed poplar wood boards

open access: yes, 2017
The influence of thermal modification by hot-compressing was investigated relative to the physical, mechanical, anatomical, crystallinity, and colour characteristics of poplar wood boards. The boards were modified by a hot-compressed method under various

Cellulose Fiber‐Engineered Gradient Interfacial Channels as Ion‐Highways for High‐Loading, Long‐Life Lithium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
This study presents a papermaking‐inspired strategy to fabricate high‐loading battery electrodes by integrating a cellulose fiber network. This scaffold creates a gradient porous architecture, enabling ultra‐fast electrolyte infiltration and ion transport.

Making Sense of the Bioeconomy: A Critical Analysis of EU Policy Narratives and Responses

open access: yesEnvironmental Policy and Governance, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The bioeconomy has become an increasingly popular concept in European Union (EU) policy, promising sustainable growth, job creation, and reduced environmental impacts. Yet its meaning remains contested, ambiguous, and politically charged. This study critically examines how EU bioeconomy policy narratives prior to 2025 construct this concept ...
