Production of Sophorolipid Biosurfactant byPichia anomala

open access: yesBioscience, Biotechnology, and Biochemistry, 2008
Biosurfactant production by Pichia anomala PY1, a thermotorelant strain isolated from fermented food, was examined as grown in media containing various carbon and nitrogen sources. The optimal conditions for biosurfactant production included 4% soybean oil as carbon source at pH 5.5 at 30 degrees C for 7 d.

Directed Evolution of Plant‐Associated Bacteria Enhances Plant Holobiont Stress Tolerance

open access: yesPlant, Cell &Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Plant stress responses are shaped by both the plant genome and its associated microbial communities, which together form the plant holobiont. Given the rapid adaptive potential of plant‐associated microbes, we hypothesised that directed evolution under selective pressure can accelerate the development of holobiont‐level stress tolerance ...

Biosurfactant-Assisted Bioremediation of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAHs) in Liquid Culture System and Substrate Interactions

open access: yes, 2017
A lipopeptide biosurfactant was produced by the bacterium Pseudomonas aeruginosa strain LBP9 isolated from petroleum-contaminated soil. Phenanthrene, fluoranthene, and pyrene were used as model polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) to study the effect ...

Bioconversion of Palm Oil into Biosurfactant by Halomonas meridiana BK-AB4 for the Application of Corrosion Inhibitor

open access: yesIndonesian Journal of Chemistry, 2018
Biosurfactant is environmentally friendly surfactant produced by a certain microorganism in a lipid-rich medium. A previous study has shown that Halomonas meridiana BK-AB4 had the potential of a moderately halophilic bacterium in converting olive oil ...

Microbial Strategies for the Degradation of Spent Lubricating Oil: A Comparative Study of Isolate Bacterium and Consortium Cultures

open access: yesWater and Environment Journal, EarlyView.
This show the biodegradation of spent lubricating oil by Bacillus sp. and a marine bacterial consortium. The consortium showed higher growth, biosurfactant production and oil removal efficiency than the isolated strain, highlighting its potential for bioremediation ABSTRACT Spent automotive lubricating oil contains complex hydrocarbons and heavy metals,

Natural Lactone‐Based Quorum Sensing Inhibitors Attenuate Virulence in Pseudomonas aeruginosa

open access: yesChemistry &Biodiversity, Volume 23, Issue 9, September 2026.
Targeting bacterial communication, lab‐generated lactones (Lx) inhibited biofilm formation and eliminated mature biofilms within 24–48 h. Lx treatment also suppressed pyocyanin and rhamnolipid production while downregulating rhlR expression, highlighting their promise as potent quorum‐sensing (QS) inhibitors and next‐generation antibiofilm therapeutics.

Biosurfactant Production Using Mixed Cultures Under Non-Aseptic Conditions

open access: yes, 1994
Surfactants increase the accessibility of adsorbed hydrocarbons and mobilize immiscible petroleum hydrocarbons for treatment. Biosurfactants have the advantage of biodegradability and non-toxicity over their synthetic counterparts, and can be produced ...
