Genomic investigations of successful invasions: the picture emerging from recent studies

open access: yesBiological Reviews, Volume 100, Issue 3, Page 1396-1418, June 2025.
ABSTRACT Invasion biology aims to identify traits and mechanisms that contribute to successful invasions, while also providing general insights into the mechanisms underlying population expansion and adaptation to rapid climate and habitat changes. Certain phenotypic attributes have been linked to successful invasions, and the role of genetics has been

First records distribution models to guide biosurveillance for non‐native species

open access: yesEcography, Volume 2025, Issue 4, April 2025.
Quickly locating new populations of non‐native species can reduce the ecological and economic costs of species invasions. However, the difficulty of predicting which new non‐native species will establish, and where, has limited active post‐border biosurveillance efforts.

Pet and Stray Dogs’ Contribution to Zoonotic Transmission Pathways: A Bibliometric Review

open access: yesTransboundary and Emerging Diseases, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
Based on a large‐scale bibliometric dataset, domestic dogs (Canis lupus familiaris) emerge as the most frequently cited host species in the context of zoonoses, being mentioned in at least 10% of publications for nearly a quarter of the pathogens recognized as zoonotic to humans.
