Abstract This paper presents a normalization of the Biot number, which enables the Fourier exponents to be fitted with a simple 3rd order polynomial (R2 > 0.9999). The method is validated for Biot numbers ranging from 0.02 to ∞, and presented graphically for both the Fourier exponents and the lag factors needed in the series expansion.

Development of a new Biot number and lag factor correlation for drying applications
This paper deals with a new drying correlation (Bi-G-correlation) for products subjected to drying. The application of the present correlation is explained through an illustrative example to determine the moisture transfer parameters, that is, moisture diffusivity and moisture transfer coefficients. Moreover, dimensionless center moisture distributions

The Effect of Biot Number on a Generalized Heat Conduction Solution
ASME Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer, 2023Abstract Analytical solutions for thermal conduction problems are extremely important, particularly for verification of numerical codes. Temperatures and heat fluxes can be calculated very precisely, normally to eight or ten significant figures, even in situations involving large temperature gradients.

Biot Number Analogy for Design of Experiments in Turbine Cooling
Journal of Turbomachinery, 2013Cooling of turbine components that come in contact with the hot gases strongly affects the turbine's efficiency and service life. Designing effective and efficient cooling configurations requires detailed understanding on how geometry and operating conditions affect the way coolant cools the turbine materials.
