Maltreatment and Dental Trauma in Preschool Children: A Cohort Study

open access: yesDental Traumatology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Child maltreatment (CM) has been associated with adverse oral health outcomes during childhood. However, few studies have investigated the relationship between CM and dental trauma (DT) in the primary dentition. Aim To evaluate the association between CM and DT at 4 years of age.

Cellular Morphometric Analysis (CellMorph)—a comprehensive imaging‐based tool for quantifying cellular phenotype heterogeneity and dynamics across biological processes

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
CellMorph is a groundbreaking tool that allows researchers to analyze multiple features from single cells, including cell size and shape, cytosolic staining and subcellular texture, nuclear staining, and morphometry. By evaluating images from both bright‐field and fluorescence microscopy, it also tracks changes in living cells during key processes such

A First approach of using ultrasound as an alternative for blanching in vacuum-packaged potato strips [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The effect of ultrasound (US) (40 kHz, 200 W, 3 min), blanching (85 °C, 3.5 min), and the combination of both methods was evaluated on the quality of vacuum-packaged potato strips stored at 3 ± 1 °C for up to 10 days.

Persistent in vitro nociceptor hyperexcitability and axonal retraction produced by repeated paclitaxel doses

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
Repeated paclitaxel exposure causes long‐lasting nociceptor hyperexcitability and axonal retraction in adult sensory neurons. Using a long‐term primary nociceptor culture, we show that hyperexcitability is mediated by sequential upregulation of NaV1.8, TRPV1, TRPA1, and TRPM8 channels.

Expression profile of genes involved in hydrogen sulphide liberation by _Saccharomyces cerevisiae_ grown under different nitrogen concentrations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The present work aims to elucidate molecular mechanisms underlying hydrogen sulphide production in _S. cerevisiae_ associated to nitrogen deficiency. To assess, at a genome-wide level, how the yeast strain adapted to the progressive nitrogen depletion ...

Mechanical stiffness orchestrates distinct regulation of MRTFs and YAP/TAZ transcriptional cofactors in hepatocytes

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
MRTFs and YAP/TAZ proteins, or mechanosensitive transcriptional cofactors (MRTcoF), regulate common genes associated with cellular contractility and immune cell infiltration. Their differential regulation in response to stiffness is linked to changes in hepatocyte's aspect ratio. MRTFB does not undergo nuclear translocation under these conditions. This
