Interaction Between Nitrogen Forms, Phosphorus Forms, and Mineral Phases Drives Phosphorus Limitation and Uptake by Ryegrass in a Model System

open access: yesJournal of Plant Nutrition and Soil Science, EarlyView.
Nitrogen addition shifts plant nutrition from nitrogen to phosphorus (P) limitation. Nitrate‐based nitrogen enhances P acquisition more effectively than ammonium through increased phosphatase activity, independently of pH changes. Organic P forms induce stronger P limitation than inorganic P.

Looking at Soil as It Is: Evolution of Microscopic Soil Characterization From Kubiëna to Artificial Intelligence

open access: yesJournal of Plant Nutrition and Soil Science, EarlyView.
We provide a historic overview of microscopic soil structure characterization from its founding father, Walter Kubiëna, to several technical revolutions like automation, digitalization, and artificial intelligence. In addition to technical advancements, we explore how concepts and research questions have evolved in time.

Columnanidus calitzdorpensis ichnogen. ichnosp. nov: A new Middle Pleistocene subterranean termite trace fossil from South Africa

open access: yesJournal of Quaternary Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Termites are landscape geo‐engineers whose nesting activities substantially modify the physical and chemical properties of soils. Fossilised termite nests commonly constitute the only identifiable evidence of ancient termite activity and represent valuable trace fossil archives for reconstructing past environments.

Raman Line Scan Analyses and a New Hypothesis for the Formation of Anatase‐Hosting Microbialites: Study of the Stromatolites From Saint‐Jean‐de‐la‐Rivière, Cotentin, France

open access: yesJournal of Raman Spectroscopy, EarlyView.
Micrometer analysis of millimeter lines of Raman spectra concludes in the association of anatase and graphitized organic matter (graphogen). The photosynthetic microorganisms at the origin of the microbialites produce O2, which is transformed by TiO2 into reactive species that, in turn, decompose the organic matter of the microorganisms. Phenolic composition and multi‐target bioactivities of Globularia alypum extracts across seasons

open access: yesJSFA reports, EarlyView.
Abstract Background This study investigates the influence of seasonal variation on the phytochemical profile and biofunctional activities of ethanolic leaf extracts from Globularia alypum. Leaves collected across four seasons were extracted with a hydroethanolic solvent (80:20, v/v) and analyzed by LC‐ESI‐MS/MS.
