Biotites in granites, biotites in gneisses, and the status of biotite as a one-mineral environment indicator

open access: yesBulletin of the Geological Society of Finland, 1970
Some aspects of one-mineral geological environment indicators are discussed. Factors controlling the composition of biotite in different P, T, and chemical environments are reviewed. On the basis of theoretical considerations and empirical observation it is concluded that biotites in igneous granites may tend to be somewhat richer in iron than biotites

Thermal‐induced fracture evolution and acoustic signature of Beishan granite: Insights into tensile strength of barrier system for high‐level radioactive waste disposal

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
The tensile strength of granite, a proposed host for nuclear waste, degrades severely above 400°C. We link this to specific microcracking patterns captured by acoustic emission, establishing a scientific basis for assessing repository safety under thermal load.

Organic matter inoculated with diazotrophic bacterium Beijerinckia indica and Cunninghamella elegans fungus containing chitosan on banana “Williams” in field

open access: yesActa Scientiarum. Agronomy, 2017
The production of biofertilizers from rocks increases nutrients for plant nutrition without environmental pollution. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of biofertilizers from phosphate and potassium rocks mixed with organic matter ...

Relationship Between Nb-Ta Enrichments and Highly-Fractionated Granitic Magma Evolution in South China: Geochronological, Zircon Hf Isotopic and Geochemical Evidence From Jianfengling Granite

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science, 2022
The Jianfengling granite is an important ore-forming rock unit in the Xianghualing orefield in Nanling region (South China), and its magmatic evolution is vital to understand the regional niobium (Nb)-tantalum (Ta) mineralization.

Thermochronologic Constraints on the Extensional History of the Ibex Hills, Southeastern Black Mountains, Death Valley, California

open access: yesGeological Journal, EarlyView.
A. Modeled T‐t paths for samples in the northern Ibex Hills, showing steady cooling throughout much of the Cenozoic, until rapid Miocene cooling. B. Weighted mean paths for each sample in this study. Note that all show a rapid cooling event at or just after 10 Ma, which is interpreted to represent exhumation as a result of regional extenstion ...

Surfactant Effects on Structure and Mechanical Properties of Ultrahigh-Molecular-Weight Polyethylene/Layered Silicate Composites

open access: yesMolecules, 2017
In this study, the reinforcement of ultrahigh-molecular-weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) with biotite was investigated. The biotite filler was mechanically activated with different dry surfactants to improve its compatibility with UHMWPE and decrease ...

Notable Impact of Paleotectonic Stress on Gold Mineralisation in the West Qinling Orogen

open access: yesGeological Journal, EarlyView.
By applying fuzzy clustering and multiple inverse methods, we systematically processed the data of vein and fault slip in this ore deposit to reveal the transition of orogenic geological environment and paleotectonic stress field. Our research results show two different stress states: the northwest–southeast extensional stress field and the northeast ...

T-t Evolution of the Early Proterozoic Rocks in the Northern Ladoga Region from the Data on U-Pb, Rb-Sr and Sm-Nd Systems in Minerals

open access: yesГеодинамика и тектонофизика
This paper presents the results of a study of isotopic systems in minerals and rocks in southern margin of the epi-Archean Karelian craton in the zone of its junction with the Svecofennian mobile belt.

Geochemical and Geological Investigation of Skarn‐Type Pb–Zn Mineralization in Hastanetepe (Balya‐Balıkesir, Türkiye): An Approach Based on Fluid Inclusions, Sulphur Isotopes and Geochemical Data

open access: yesGeological Journal, EarlyView.
Integrated petrographic, mineralogical and geochemical data from the Hastanetepe Pb–Zn deposit (Balya, Türkiye) reveal multi‐stage hydrothermal alteration and a magmatic sulphur source. Fluid inclusion and sulphur isotope results indicate a complex fluid evolution responsible for skarn‐type Pb–Zn mineralization along limestone–dacite contacts ...

Geochemistry and Geochronology of Magmatic Rocks in Southwestern and Northeastern Cambodia: Implications for the Tectonic Evolution and Metallogenesis of the Loei Fold Belt

open access: yesGeological Journal, EarlyView.
The composition of intrusive rocks suggests that the magma was likely generated in a subduction‐related setting. The arc crustal thickness in the Phnom Sro Ngam and Halo Prospects was probably < 40 km during emplacement. Zircon U–Pb age range indicates a correlation with Loei Fold Belt magmatic activity.
