Within‐Population Genetic Structuring of the Cosmopolitan Fungus Schizophyllum commune in Poland and Ukraine

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 16, Issue 6, June 2026.
In this study, we aimed to investigate the genetic structuring of the S. commune population in Poland and Ukraine using highly informative SSR DNA markers, to identify potential environmental factors influencing gene flow, and establish the direction of genotypes dissemination.

Safflower (Carthamus tinctorius L.) Seed Oils: Effect of Extraction Process and Cultivars on Chemical Composition, Physicochemical Parameters and Nutritional Quality Index

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 6, June 2026.
M. pulegium essential oil study emphasizes molecular structure analysis and bioactivity. Chemical composition varies based on geographical origin. In silico analyses confirm binding affinities. Essential oil shows potent insecticidal activity with LD50 and LT50.

Seismic imaging of the critical zone of dolerite dykes at Cap Fréhel in Brittany (France)

open access: yesNear Surface Geophysics, Volume 24, Issue 3, Page 262-288, June 2026.
Abstract In June 2023, we measured ten near‐surface seismic profiles to image the critical zone of dolerite (diabase) dykes that cut the sandstone at Cap Fréhel in Brittany (France). Seismic ray tracing and inversion are used to determine the thickness of the regolith layer from first‐arrival P‐wave traveltimes.

Do ecosystem types tell the full biodiversity story? Potentials of ecosystem types as indicators of plant species richness

open access: yesJournal of Applied Ecology, Volume 63, Issue 6, June 2026.
Our study demonstrates that the commonness and red‐list status of ecosystem types can be informative of biodiversity measures in terms of species richness at selected spatial scales. The scale‐dependence of these indicators and the inverse relationship between red‐list status and commonness illustrate that conservation strategies must consider several ...

NADPH Dehydrogenase Gene Regulates Energy Distribution and Fatty Acid Metabolism During Fruiting Body Formation in the Filamentous Fungus Podospora anserina

open access: yesMicrobial Biotechnology, Volume 19, Issue 6, June 2026.
NADPH dehydrogenase gene deletion significantly triggered NADPH/NADP+ increase in mutant strains. NADPH gene deletion promoted Fatty acid biosynthesis and repressed β‐oxidation. NADPH gene deletion decreased oxidative phosphorylation and increased substrate‐level phosphorylation. Mutants exhibited hypersensitivity to oxidative stress, but promoted more

Activism for Socialist Industrial Heritage in Romania: The Carbochim Project Controversy

open access: yesArea, Volume 58, Issue 2, June 2026.
Short Abstract This study aims to better understand activism in the Romanian post‐socialist society during a struggle to preserve the socialist industrial heritage of Carbochim, in Cluj‐Napoca, Romania. From an urban activist perspective, we present a failed heritagisation process because of commercial‐oriented real estate development, but that enables
