How to optimise tournament draws: The case of the FIFA World Cup

open access: yesInternational Transactions in Operational Research, EarlyView.
Abstract The organisers of major sports competitions use different policies with respect to constraints in the group draw. Our paper aims to rationalise these choices by analysing the trade‐off between attractiveness (the number of games played by teams from the same geographic zone) and fairness (the departure of the draw mechanism from a uniform ...

Investigating GERMs: how genotype, environment, and rhizosphere microbiome interactions underlie heat response in maize and sorghum

open access: yesNew Phytologist, EarlyView.
Three genotypes – a heat‐resistant maize (Zea mays), a heat‐susceptible maize, and a sorghum (Sorghum bicolor) variety – were grown to the V4 stage in growth chambers under optimal conditions or subjected to heat stress. Plants were grown in soil containing a complex microbial community, or in the same soil with a depleted microbiome.

A Modified Cas9 Scaffold Allows Extension of the Virus‐Induced Gene Editing Technology to the Large Potyvirus Genus

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Plant viruses are recognized as rapid and effective vectors to deliver CRISPR‐Cas reaction components into plants, a strategy termed virus‐induced gene editing (VIGE). However, VIGE is limited by the host range of the viral vectors. Development of new viral vectors to target a broad range of plant species will potentially enable the delivery ...

On The Domatic Number of Bipartite Permutation Graphs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
[[abstract]]This paper studies the problem of partitioning the vertices of a graph G into disjoint set V1, …, Vq such that V1, …, Va are all dominating sets of G. The objective is to find the largest q.

Natural Variation in GmSL20 Improves Seed Size and Quality in Soybean

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Seed size plays an important role in determining crop yield, yet the genetic mechanisms underlying the regulation of this agronomic trait remain incompletely understood in soybean. Here, we perform a genome‐wide association study mapping with seed length variations and identify a major quantitative trait locus (QTL) on chromosome 20, named ...

Bipartite powers of some classes of bipartite graphs [PDF]

open access: yes
Graph powers are a well-studied concept in graph theory. Analogous to graph powers, Chandran et al.[3] introduced the concept of bipartite powers for bipartite graphs.

On niche graphs of bipartite tournaments [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
학위논문 (석사)-- 서울대학교 대학원 : 사범대학 수학교육과, 2018. 2. 김서령.Let D be a digraph. The niche graph of D has the same set of vertices as D and an edge between vertices u and v if and only if there exists a common in-neighbor or a ommon out-neighbor of u and v in D. Kim

DNA Methylation Shapes Seed‐Borne Microbiome and Proteome Responses During Early Maize‐Beneficial Bacteria Interactions

open access: yesPlant, Cell &Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Microorganism and plant interactions are crucial for development and environmental adaptation. Plant growth promoting bacteria enhance agricultural productivity in a sustainable manner, while epigenetic modifications such as DNA methylation regulate gene expression and adaptive responses.

Effects on Seidel energy of two special types of graphs by perturbing edges

open access: yesKuwait Journal of Science
Let G be a simple undirected graph, and let S(G) be its Seidel matrix. The Seidel energy of G is defined as ES(G)=∑i=1n|λS(G)|, where λS(G),λS(G),…,λS(G) are Seidel eigenvalues of G.

scMOG: A graph neural network method for regulatory relationship‐preserving single‐cell multi‐omics integration

open access: yesQuantitative Biology, Volume 14, Issue 3, September 2026.
Abstract Single‐cell multi‐omics sequencing technology provides a powerful tool for studying cellular heterogeneity. However, beyond the challenges of sparsity, heterogeneity, and dimensionality differences, a critical challenge in multi‐omics data integration lies in preserving the true regulatory relationships among molecular features.
