Toward Stable Multivalent Metal Batteries: Understanding the Interfacial Chemistry for Magnesium and Calcium Metal Anodes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Interphase chemistry governs the stability of multivalent metal batteries. We summarize state‐of‐the‐art developments in calcium and magnesium metal batteries by focusing on the correlation among electrolytes, interphase layers, and the electrochemical performance of corresponding metal anodes.

Characterization of a calcium phospho-silicated apatite with iron oxide inclusions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
An iron oxide containing calcium phosphate–silicate hydroxyapatite was synthesized by calcination at 900 °C of a sample obtained by precipitation in basic aqueous solution of Ca, P, Si, Fe and Mg containing acidic solution made from dissolution of ...

Tissue‐Stimulator Platform for Electrically Stimulating Pancreatic β‐Cells for Long‐Term Functional Regulation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We present a tissue‐stimulator platform for seamless electrode integration with pancreatic tissue, applying uniform electrical stimulation through optimized design with biohybrid 3D printing. Advantageous effects of electrical stimulation on β‐cell function were observed, including enhanced calcium signaling, islet morphology, and maturation.

Progress on the preparation of nanocrystalline apatites and surface characterization: Overview of fundamental and applied aspects [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Nanocrystalline calcium phosphate apatites constitute the main inorganic part of hard tissues, and a growing focus is devoted to prepare synthetic analogs, so-called “biomimetic”, able to precisely mimic the morphological and physico-chemical features of

In vitro biphasic dissolution tests and their suitability for establishing in vitro-in vivo correlations: A historical review

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 2017
For many decades, one of the most critical issues in the pharmaceutical industry has been the poor solubility of some drugs. Indeed, a prerequisite for drug absorption is the presence of dissolved drug at the absorption site and this can be challenging for compounds with low aqueous solubility such as BCS class II (low solubility, high permeability ...
