Patient characteristics and outcomes of a home mechanical ventilation program in a developing country

open access: yesLung India, 2019
Background: There are limited data on home mechanical ventilation (HMV) in developing countries. This study aimed to describe the patient characteristics, feasibility, and outcomes of an HMV program at a university hospital in Thailand.

Single‐nucleus RNA sequencing reveals the distinct heterogeneity of primary pulmonary sarcomas (PPS) and pulmonary sarcomatoid carcinoma (PSC)

open access: yesClinical and Translational Medicine, Volume 16, Issue 1, January 2026.
Single‐nucleus RNA sequencing (snRNA‐seq) maps the cellular diversity of pulmonary sarcomatoid carcinoma (PSC) and primary pulmonary sarcomas (PPS). AT2 cells, a major source of epithelial cells in PSC, underwent malignant transformation primarily through epithelial–mesenchymal transition, suggesting AT2 cells may serve as the origin of PSC.

Impact of Preoperative Hemodynamic Values on Development of Reperfusion Edema After Pulmonary Endarterectomy

open access: yesPulmonary Circulation, Volume 16, Issue 1, January 2026.
ABSTRACT Reperfusion pulmonary edema (RPE) is a severe complication after pulmonary endarterectomy (PEA) and is associated with prolonged mechanical ventilation, organ dysfunction, and worse outcome. While residual pulmonary hypertension after PEA is associated with RPE, studies on preoperative risk factors for RPE after PEA are scarce. We investigated

Infant flow biphasic nasal continuous positive airway pressure (BP- NCPAP) vs. infant flow NCPAP for the facilitation of extubation in infants' ≤ 1,250 grams: a randomized controlled trial

open access: yesBMC Pediatrics, 2012
Background The use of mechanical ventilation is associated with lung injury in preterm infants and therefore the goal is to avoid or minimize its use. To date there is very little consensus on what is considered the "best non-invasive ventilation mode ...

A Scoping Review to Map Health Outcomes in Inducible Laryngeal Obstruction

open access: yesInternational Journal of Language &Communication Disorders, Volume 61, Issue 1, January/February 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Inducible laryngeal obstruction (ILO) is defined as an inappropriate laryngeal closure causing difficulty in breathing. Outcome measures can be used in ILO to monitor changes in health status over time. A comprehensive review of existing measures is important to understand what the targets of treatment and management are and whether

Isolated Pneumopericardium in a Preterm Infant on Nasal Biphasic Positive Airway Pressure

open access: yesInternational Journal of Clinical Pediatrics, 2014
Different modalities of non-invasive ventilation (NIV), one of which is nasal biphasic positive airway pressure (nBiPAP), are used both after extubation and as an alternative to intubation in suitable cases. Just as mechanical ventilation (MV), NIV can be complicated by air leak syndromes.

Myocardial infarction in young women-casuistry or reality? Case report [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The problem of myocardial infarction at a young age and in women is very relevant, because there are differences between women and men in the diagnosis of acute coronary syndrome treated by emergency percutaneous coronary intervention by age (women older)

Clinical deterioration in community acquired infections associated with lymphocyte upsurge in immunocompetent hosts [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Clinical deterioration during the course of community-acquired infections can occur as a result of an exaggerated immune response of the host towards the inciting pathogens, leading to immune-mediated tissue damage.

Piezo2 in Mechanosensory Biology: From Physiological Homeostasis to Disease‐Promoting Mechanisms

open access: yesCell Proliferation, Volume 59, Issue 1, January 2026.
Piezo2 channels are essential mechanotransducers regulating touch, proprioception and visceral mechanosensation across physiological systems, emerging as therapeutic targets for pathological mechanical hypersensitivity and neurogenic disorders. ABSTRACT Piezo2, a mechanically activated ion channel, serves as the key molecular transducer for touch ...

Noninvasive high-frequency oscillatory ventilation as respiratory support in preterm infants: a meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials

open access: yesRespiratory Research, 2019
Background Noninvasive high-frequency oscillatory ventilation (nHFOV), a relatively new modality, is gaining popularity despite scarce evidence. This meta-analysis was designed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of nHFOV as respiratory support in ...
