Mirex-induced suppression of biliary excretion of polychlorinated biphenyl compounds

Toxicology and Applied Pharmacology, 1976
Abstract Isolated perfused rat liver preparations were utilized to study the drug-induced modification of biliary excretion of [ 14 C]4-chlorobiphenyl (1-CB) and [ 14 C]2,4,5-2′,4′,5′-hexachlorobiphenyl (6-CB) and their metabolites. The effect of pretreatment of rats with mirex was compared with that of phenobarbital (PB) and 6-CB by measuring the ...

Accounting of the Use and Emissions of Polychlorinated Biphenyl Compounds (PCBs) in India, 1951-2100.

Environmental Science and Technology, 2023
Polychlorinated biphenyl compounds (PCBs) are highly toxic organic chemicals still prevalent in the environment. While global inventories of the use and emissions of PCBs have been developed, estimates for individual countries determined using bottom-up ...

Immunotoxicity of Polychlorinated Biphenyls and Related Compounds

1997
Polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), dibenzofurans (PCDFs) and dibenzo-p-dioxins (PCDDs) are hydrocarbons containing two ring structures that can be substituted with a varying number of chlorine atoms, altogether comprising 419 different congeners (Fig. 1).

Improving Druggability of Novel Diarylpyrimidine NNRTIs by a Fragment-Based Replacement Strategy: From Biphenyl-DAPYs to Heteroaromatic-Biphenyl-DAPYs.

Journal of Medicinal Chemistry, 2021
A series of novel heteroaromatic-difluoro-biphenyl-diarylpyrimidines were designed as non-nucleoside anti-HIV inhibitors targeting reverse transcriptase by a fragment-based replacement strategy with the purpose of improving the druggability. Hopping five-

Polychlorinated biphenyl compounds in milk and dairy products

Zeitschrift fr Lebensmittel-Untersuchung und -Forschung, 1980
The PCB content of 469 milk and dairy product samples was determined. The fat was extracted and cleaned up through aluminium oxide. The organochlorine pesticides and the PCBs were separated by chromatography through a silica gel column. The PCBs in the purified extracts were perchlorinated to decachlorobiphenyl and determined by gas chromatography. The

Reactions of lithium-biphenyl adducts with carbonyl compounds

Bulletin of the Academy of Sciences, USSR Division of Chemical Science, 1966
1. The reactions of lithium-biphenyl adducts in tetrahydrofuran solution with acetaldehyde, benzaldehyde, acetone, cyclohexanone, and ethyl octanoate were carried out. 2. The reaction of lithium-biphenyl adducts with carbonyl compounds takes two courses: condensation of the carbonyl compounds, and organolithium synthesis with formation ...

Triplet triplet absorption of biphenyl and related compounds

Chemical Physics Letters, 1974
Abstract Triplet triplet absorption spectra of biphenyl, carbazole and phenanthrene have been studied in rigid glass at 77 K. Oscillator strengths and polarizations are reported. A theoretical study has been performed using the Pariser-Parr-Pople approximation in order to support the band assignments.

OPTICAL STABILITY IN BIPHENYL, PHENYLPYRIDYL, AND BIPYRIDYL COMPOUNDS

Canadian Journal of Research, 1950
Comparable ortho-substituted compounds of the biphenyl, 2-phenylpyridyl, and 2,2′-bipyridyl type have been synthesized and resolved, and the resistance to racemization determined. The results are as would have been predicted on geometrical considerations only, the compounds containing nitrogen atoms in the rings not behaving in any abnormal manner.
