Detection of interictal epileptiform discharges using multiple bilateral insertions of a newly developed microcatheter‐compatible endovascular electroencephalogram electrode: A clinical feasibility trial

open access: yesEpilepsia Open, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective To assess the feasibility, technical performance, and safety of a novel endovascular electroencephalogram (eEEG) electrode, EP‐01, designed for minimally invasive seizure localization in patients with drug‐resistant epilepsy. Methods This single‐center, prospective, exploratory trial enrolled five patients with drug‐resistant ...

Effect of additional dimensions and views in the echocardiographic determination of 3‐dimensional left ventricular volume in myxomatous mitral valve disease in dogs

open access: yesJournal of Veterinary Internal Medicine
Background Left ventricular (LV) volumes can be calculated from various linear, monoplane, and multiplane echocardiographic methods, and the same method can be applied to different imaging views.

Dual Observer Based Adaptive Controller for Hybrid Drones

open access: yesDrones, 2023
A biplane quadrotor (hybrid vehicle) benefits from rotary-wing and fixed-wing structures. We design a dual observer-based autonomous trajectory tracking controller for the biplane quadrotor.

Percutaneous Closure of Patent Foramen Ovale in a Patient With Incomplete Cor Triatriatum Sinister: A Case Report

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Ultrasound, EarlyView.
We present the case of a 55‐year‐old male who experienced a cryptogenic ischemic stroke, likely due to a patent foramen ovale (PFO) in the setting of an incomplete cor triatriatum sinister (CTS) and a 30 mm GORE Cardioform Septal Occluder was successfully implanted.

Comparative diagnostic accuracy study of point of care ultrasound techniques for detection of left atrial enlargement by hospital medicine physicians from archived echocardiogram images

open access: yesJournal of Hospital Medicine, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Left atrial enlargement (LAE) is predictive of cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. Prior studies of point‐of‐care ultrasound (POCUS) interpretation methods for identifying LAE utilized older echocardiographic reference ranges. Objectives Compare the test characteristics of hospitalist‐performed POCUS techniques for identifying ...

Modelling biplanes on surfaces

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Combinatorics, 2004
A biplane is a symmetric design on \(v = k(k-1)/2 + 1\) points and the same number of lines such that (1) each line contains exactly \(k\) points, (2) each point is on exactly \(k\) lines, and (3) any pair of points lie on exactly 2 lines. Non-trivial biplanes are known to exist only for \(k = 3,4,5,6,9,11\), and \(13\).

From armed roots to airline routes in South America: A dual imprinting perspective

open access: yesStrategic Management Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Reserch Summary We propose that founding partner relationships can leave distinct imprints on organizations that differ in durability and in how they respond to subsequent changes involving the founding partner. Examining South American airlines founded between 1919 and 1984, we argue and find that such relationships simultaneously create an ...

Global fitting for high-accuracy multi-channel single-molecule localization

open access: yesNature Communications, 2022
Multi-channel SMLM imaging is powerful. Here the authors report globLoc, a GPU-based global fitting algorithm, to extract maximum information from multichannel single molecule data; this gives improved localisation precision for biplane and 4Pi-SMLM and ...

Circulating Musclin is associated with skeletal muscle function and subclinical cardiac dysfunction in patients with cancer

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Background and Purpose Musclin (osteocrin) is a skeletal muscle‐derived peptide that has been implicated in cardioprotective signalling pathways. Its relevance in cancer patients, who frequently experience muscle wasting and cardiotoxicity, remains unclear. This study aimed to determine whether circulating Musclin levels reflect functional capacity and

A Real‐Time Multi‐Scale Neural Representation for Complex Surface Reflectance

open access: yesComputer Graphics Forum, EarlyView.
Abstract Recent machine learning methods have significantly advanced the state of the art in the classic problem of representing surface appearance over angle, space, and scale. The models tend, however, to be relatively heavy compared to traditional fixed‐function representations, making real‐time application challenging.
